Rapunzel
Reviews

I had to read this for one of my English classes. It is so cool picking these stories apart and trying to find meaning behind them. The inter texts are even cooler, my goodness!

The more I read this, the more I realize it's ridiculous. But you know... it's for a project.

I have the complete set of the Grimm Fairy-Tales, and there are so many that I haven’t read! They are very short, as one would know, so I have decided to read each one and give them a review. Some are very vulgar, some are very cute and some don’t even make sense. Some of them are well known fairy-tales and some have never been told. Some are fairy-tales we know but are not the same because they have been downplayed for the children. Rapunzel is not the Disney version we all think of. Mandy Moore doesn’t play the voice of her, there is no Zachary Levi’s Rider, and there aren’t lanterns. The real story is odder. A man and a wife live by an evil sorceress who grows very green rampion, which the story says is another word for Rapunzel. The man was caught stealing from the sorceress’ garden and was told that in order to save his life, he was going to have to give her their first child. He told her he would do that, and she took a little girl that she named Rapunzel. When she was old enough, she locked her away in a tower so the evil sorceress could have her all to herself. She sang a lot when she was alone, which is how the prince found her. After learning that she has to let her hair down for you to see her, they fell in love. When the sorceress found out she banished Rapunzel and blinded the prince. Will he ever be able to see again? Will the prince and Rapunzel ever find each other again? Will the evil sorceress win yet again? I believe this is a touching short-story fairy-tale and I would read it again!
