Van Helsing Vs. Dracula's Daughter
Reviews

A mysterious book with colourful art - How else would you want to see Van Helloing and Dracula's Daughter portrayed? I will say, this book is beautiful for it's colouring. That really drew me in and kept my attention. I could have done without the super skimpy (air quote "sexy") outfits, but I guess I'm not the audience? The action and storyline would have been enough without overly sexualizing the main leads to get a few more gazes from certain individuals. It seems dumb and unrealistic to have the girls fighting in sexy shots. You can make them look just as good in pants... But, you know, I guess we weren't in this graphic novel for the story. Let's look at boobs and butts instead. This isn't a standalone - it's in a vast series of stories. Can you read it alone? Sure. Does it make much sense? Ehhh... Kind of? I definitely was missing a lot of key elements to know fully what was going on. Overall, the story is good for a nice read to escape from reality. It's not award winning in my mind, it's just an okay book. The colour and illustrations (minus the sexy outfits) are what really did it for me. Two out of five stars. Thank you to NetGalley and Diamond Book Distributors for providing me a free copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.

I loved it so much. I am a huge vampire lover. When you read this is the story of Van Helsing’s daughter and her friend Julie. Helsing is out to find and kill the daughter of Dracula the man that took her mother from her when she was very young. With me it’s hard to give a good review cause I want to gush and spoil the heck out of the book I read. So I leave you with this. If you want a good book that’s full of vampire, fighting, demons, etc you need to read this book.

What caught me eye about the book from the very beginning was the artwork throughout. It was spooky, had graphic violence and an interesting progression of plot. This story starts off with Liesel Van Helsing tracking down the bones of Dracula because someone has stolen them. Her main goal was to kill the person that stole it so that the bones would not be used for evil. I would first like to point out that although I haven’t read anything from this series other than this, I really enjoyed the experience of reading it. Anyone that is familiar with the series can read this, I would not suggest doing what I did and jumping straight to this because there are some aspects that requires reading the other graphic novels to understand. I also loved the integration of using the journal to talk about what happened in the past and actually having it drawn out because it makes the plot that more convincing and the stakes even higher. However, I was confused about the ending just because the way it ended was very suspenseful. I would also say that Dracula’s daughter is very cunning and the ending definitely proves that much more. But overall, I can’t want to read more from this author and I would definitely buy it when it gets published!
