“Gordo,” he said, sounding faintly amused as he always did when he said my name.

“Mark,” I said in return, resolutely staring straight ahead.

Ox and Joe sighed in unison, the insufferable Alphas that they were.

“Why does he still think we’re mind readers?” Kelly whispered.

“I don’t know,” Carter said. “But don’t remind him we’re not. I like learning things that will scar me for life.”

“Oh, I know,” he said easily. “Ox did, though. So.” He shrugged. “Kind of the same.”

“The last time you tried to work on a car, you set it on fire.”

 kind of dreams? You know, the ones where you and Mark are all rubbing on each—you know what, I just realized that’s my uncle and I’m going to stop talking now.”

I leaned forward and pressed my lips to his.

I hated that. “Does he? Don’t you ever think what his life would be like if you hadn’t found him?”

Joe laughed bitterly. “All the time. Every day. With everything I have. But it was—it was candy canes and pinecones. It was epic and awesome.”

All except for the one on my chest above my heart. That’d been mine. My choice. It wasn’t magic, but it’d been for me.

Kelly saw it. His eyes widened, but he knew better.

A wolf’s head, tilted back and baying at the moon.

Buried in the design of his neck was a raven, wings spread and taking flight.

“You could have become the villain, Gordo. And it would have been within your rights. Instead you just chose to be an asshole.”

“You tried to grow a mustache?” Mark asked me. “Gross,” Kelly said, nose wrinkling. “We can smell that, Uncle Mark.”

“You know,” he said, voice a little hoarse, “I hope you guys are on your way to working out whatever the fuck is going on between the two of you. I mean, it was really gross to watch my uncle carry you up the stairs in his arms like some damsel in distress and snarl at anyone who tried to go into his room to check on you.” I turned slowly to look at Mark, who suddenly found the wall very interesting. “You did what?”

“I’m not grumpier than normal,” I said. “I’m always like this.”

I know I’ll be reading these books again before this year ends. They’re so great and that’s my new FamilyLovePack.

Well…It was better than the first one. My feelings of it being so unhinged it’s addictive still stands. Again, Klune does great with angst. There’s great moments of dialogue and prose/description littered throughout the book. The relationship and struggles between the MCs were better written and more interesting than the first book. Some parts even made emotional this time. But, a lot of my complaints from the first book bleed over into this one. The age gap between Mark and Gordo…I still don’t understand the choice to make these characters not be the same age. I really don’t think the story would suffer at all if Klune had decided that from the get-go. The human male side characters are borderline insufferable (the comic relief annoyed me, and I felt like it slowed the story down) and are so similar it’s hard to remember who is who. The first 25% of this book was very slow. I’m not a fan of books that recap things from a different character’s POV. I usually get very bored of it pretty quickly. After the 25% mark, it picks up though. I’m hoping the writing style will continue to improve in the next and final books.

           you know when you read a really good fan-fiction and you feel like it’s the best piece of literature ever written, even tho it’s absolutely NOT, but you feel like there’s drugs in the pages? yeah. that was this book
- first of all i would like to *stands on box* *grabs megaphone* *whispers urgently into megaphone* “THEY ARE EVERYTHING TO ME”
- like, i don’t think any green creek couple will top them, ever. they’re dynamic, the angst, the fluff, the heartbreak, the TRAGEDY akdjakkskd 
- young Morkdo(yes, this is my ship name for them) is so🥲 Mark is so protective i CaN’t-
- but TJ…buddy….what’s with the age gaps, man? is it necessary? no. maybe a lil bit, maybe
- Chris, Tanner and Rico🤞🤞 but i would maybe like more female characters, and for Rico to yk…NOT fetishise wlw? guess you can’t have everything 
- also Bambi is my wife and Jessie and Bambi are the superior couple. argue with the wall
- i would like to say i don’t care for the plot really AT ALL. like, none. i could probably not care less. anyways 
- i hate myself for loving it so much but Mark & Gordo make me emo, it’s not my fault

Damn this entire book for completely destroying me!! I'm already prepared for the major book hangover that's going to follow and I'm also already dreading and anticipating everything that's to come in book3

So I loved Wolfsong when I read it, Ox and Joe's story is beautiful and I originally thought wow what a great standalone. To hell with that idea!! I can't believe I could even think this story could be contained in a single book because this proved how much deeper this world and story truly goes. Safe to say Ravensong really got me and I'm 110% invested in this series! Where is the next book when you need it?! My heart is so full of love right now, but I'm also currently dangling off a cliff and would like to find solid ground soon!

Second books in a series always make me nervous, and especially so when they’re about a character(s) that weren’t necessarily standouts to me in the first book. 

BUT. 

Gordo’s rough exterior was completely explained in this one and it really endears you to him more. His and Mark’s story isn’t one of easy or complete fluff; it was was raw and painful and chaotic, but somehow perfect. 

I thought the continuation of the storyline from book one was really well done—Ox and Joe are still very much a part of the narrative, but they don’t overshadow what this book’s focus is. And the Epilogue!!! Eeeeek. 

As always: I love the Bennett pack.

2nd time and I had remembered much less than I thought I would have so it was almost like a first time read. And I think I loved it even more this time around. 

Gordo is literally a Tortured Hero and he more than earns those capital letters.
