A Medicine for Melancholy and Other Stories
Reviews

I thought the story was very unique and well written and you really sympathize with Margot. The story was q very quick and unique read. Bradbury did a great job in describing the setting in great detail without making it boring or unnecessary. I also think the characters were well developed. And this was my third time reading it. Although I think it deserves more of a 4.5 I'm not going to downgrade it to 4 stars.

"All Summer in a Day" is another beautifully crafted short story that shows the elegance and power of silence. This story takes place on Venus where it rains constantly and the sun is only shows us for a couple hours once ever 7 years. A classroom of third graders is watching by the window, waiting for the rain to end, while bullying a girl named Margot, who they shove into a closet. Ray Bradbury has a magical way with words to move people, and this is no exception. The unresolved ending leaves readers feelings unsettled with feelings they aren't sure how to deal with and within four short pages, Bradbury is able to touch on the ideas of hope, power, cruetly, and injustice. The biggest downfall is the flat characters, even Margot who is hard to connect with.
