One of those romances I’m embarrassed to have read. It started off decent, and then it went downhill (can’t believe I stuck it out and finished it). I listened to this as an audiobook and the narrator’s voice was actually good, so at least there’s that. I love a sports romance and the premise of this book, but it just was ehhhhh

It was a good story. The storyline and the plot twist. It help me understand deeper about Bipolar person and how to handle, but overall it was awesome.

Real is the first book of Katy Evan’s MMA fighters series. Real is based on this infamous couple Remington “Remy” and Brooke. It starts off with Brooke coming to a MMA fight, that her friend dragged her to. Remy is the top prize fighter, and normally she barely looks at men. She doesn’t like flings and doesn’t do relationships much. But she is fascinated by Remy, and he looks straight at her in a way she has never felt before. But she knows he is bad news, until he comes after her. Their exchange is pretty intense and she wonders if she will ever see him again. Then she is taken to his hotel room with a job offer, to be his phsyical trainer to prevent future and occurring injuries. She has recently graduated but hasn’t received any offers and so she says yes. And thus begins their powerful story.

 From a man who fights like crazy, arouses me like no other, is the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen. From the man who plays me sexy music, gives me his t-shirt to sleep in, protects me as fiercely as a lion, and yet won’t take me when I’m naked and trembling in his arms…

Remy and Brooke are pure chemistry together, Katy Evans knows how to write chemistry. Because its not about sex…its so much deeper than that. And seriously I felt my heart literally skip beats while reading their story and I couldn’t get enough. Remy is a complex character for sure. His parents had him committed when he was just a teenager and he suffers from a intense form of bi polar. You see how drawn he is to Brooke as is Brooke to Remy. They have their ups and down in this book, but it was such a powerfully written book. I love that their relationship builds and focuses on the real aspects. I found their romance to be intense and explosive and heart wrenching!!! They have become one of my top couples to read.

Esta serie fue uno de los primeros libros que leí, los recuerdo con mucho cariño porque son una especie de pioneros para mí.

Ahora bien, leer a Brooke y Remy tantos años después, ha sido un poco agridulce. Para mí en el momento que los leí eran una gran pareja y el libro tenía absoluto sentido. Ahora, ha pasado tiempo y yo he madurado. Mi forma de ver los libros, la narrativa y las relaciones ha cambiado. 

Me gusta lo tóxico, sé separarlo de la realidad, pero siento que este libro cruzaba un poco la línea de lo que tolero. Obviamente Remy tiene problemas, y me causaba un poco de conflicto el apego emocional y carga que representaba para Brooke estar con él. No lo juzgo con una mano tan dura porque entiendo que para el año que fue escrito, estaba demasiado normalizado y hasta pedida esta clase de obsesión entre las parejas. Más sin embargo, hoy en día, me saltaron focos rojos mientras lo leía. 

Por otra parte, a pesar de que lo he disfrutado, y como dije al principio, me ha parecido agridulce, porque he recordado aquello que leí años atrás, pero me he dado cuenta que simplemente hay cosas que no dan. Como lo es la recuperación de Nora. WTF?????? Alguien me puede explicar cómo, CÓMO, es posible que la autora pasó de describir a Nora en una situación preocupante, y con la mierda hasta el cuello, a ponerla completamente “recuperada” y “bien” EN TRES PÁGINAS DEL ÚLTIMO CAPÍTULO TF MAN. 

Dejando de lado grandes inconsistencias como la pasada, seguiré con la serie. Será interesante comprar los sentimientos que tuve siendo una puberta y habiendo leído esto en esas etapas de mi vida, a leerlo ahora que soy adulta y mas madura y consiente de las situaciones.

Thoughts: Wow! Why did it take me so long to read Real. Have you ever read a book you were so torn over your thoughts. That is what Real has done to me. I loved it but at the same time I had issues with it. 

What I Loved:
Remy is what kept me swiping my kindle for more. I could not put it down. I needed to know how everything played out even though I knew what he was keeping from Brooke. He caught my attention right from the meet in the hotel. After that I just wanted to know more about him. Loved the sweet moments together with Brooke. Best part and what makes Remy a swoon worthy hero is he would do anything for her.

Loved that even though Brooke had no idea what was going on with Remy and was told many times to back off or leave him alone she did not. She fought hard and stood her ground and wanted to take care of him. I felt so bad for her when it came to her sister Nora. I was also nervous because I knew things were not going to go well on one of her decisions she made relating to her sister.

Fight scenes were a big part of the plot and were done perfectly. Loved Nora her sister plot line too. The last half the book was intense and bit emotional 

What did not work for me:
Being in Brookes head. She was at times annoying. The repetitiveness use of words from her. All she ever thought about was how hot Remy is or how she was about to burst down below. 

Since I was not a fan being in Brookes mind I did not like the 1st POV. Maybe I would of like it better if dual 1st POV. I really wanted to feel what Remy was feeling. I wanted to experience all his ups and downs. 

Overall Thoughts:
I wonder if I read this years ago if my thoughts would of been different as many things that bother me with this book would of not back then. Times past and my taste in what I like and dislike have changed. Many great reviews for Real and I totally understand how easily to fall in love with Remy and Brooke. Days after reading I still think about Real. I want more Remy but do not know if I could handle being in Brookes head again.

First things first-I don't think I have ever listened to the song Iris by Goo Goo Dolls so many times in a row in my lifetime. You'll see why. :) 

I really enjoyed this book. The chemistry between Brooke and Remy was hot. Also Remy was extremely hot. There were times during this book when I wasn't sure how to feel about it, but the end result was great. There were a lot of great parts-my favorites including their mp3 players (I'm not much of a steamy scene lover myself, but if you are there is plenty of those in this book). 

I suggest this to those who are into contemporary romance novels featuring alpha males and steamy scenes that make you blush.

Remington F***ing Tate!!!!!!

Officially my new book boyfriend!!! He is so incredibly hot and strong and just plain amazing! In the words of Brooke Dumas "He's my beast. My dark and my light. Mine." 


Despite my love for all things Remy I really just need to point out a few things that really got on my nerves. 
1) the use of the word "clench". Seriously overused. 71 times, I checked.
2) what's with the "scenting?" Does he meant he smelled her?
3) The use of "my sex." Really annoying in my opinion. 

But seriously love the book!

¡El suceso del momento! ¿? Real es un libro bastante comentado en toodas las redes sociales. Es uno de estas cosas virales de las que por más que intentemos no estamos ajenos. Y, bueno, quería saber que era toda esta fiebre por el chico Remy. La curiosidad mató al gato, dicen. Lo primero, yo en realidad, de verdad, de verdad quería que me gustara el libro, por más que cuando leí la sinopsis no me gustó exactamente, y como no soy de guiarme del todo de sinopsis, dije, bueh, y entré como corderito al matadero, con todas mis buenas intenciones de ser seducida. Pero no.

Luchador, mujeriego, tatuado... ¿dónde leí eso? Ah, sí, un maravilloso luchador en desastre de otro libro, no soy del tipo que compara, al contrario, si encuentro un libro que se parece a otro que me gustó bastante, tiendo a leerlo o lo espero ansiosa para saber como el/la autor/a me va a llevar y asombrar por un escenario que ya conozco. Pero empezar Real, esos primeros párrafos ¡son un maldito dejavú!


 1. Protagonista fue arrastrada a la pelea por su sobre excitada amiga
 2. Protagonista NO está vestida como todas las demás

Y así algunas otras cosas que hacen imposible no pensar "¡Esto ya lo leí antes!", pero seguí adelante. Y no solo con el libro mencionado antes, es la primera vez que encuentro tantas similitudes con otros libros, mejor dicho que lo haya sentido así.

El dúo dinámico, las BFF, Brooke y Melanie, yo las definiría como, déjenme busco en mi diccionario la palabra... sí, aquí está: ZONZAS. OH, Brooke, querida mía, pequeño petardo (así le dice el chico sexy, creo que es el peor apodo cariñoso que he leído. Petardo, que alguien me diga así y lo estrangulo), estoy considerando regalarle un diccionario. Sería bonito que encontrara algunas otras palabras para describir la "hermosura salvaje y ardiente" de Remy. Y quizá unas clases de narración para la escritora no estaría mal. ¿Por qué? Dirás tú inocentemente. Bueno, una de las grandes razones por las que el libro no me gusta es esto: la pésima narración. La manera de describir de Katy es demasiado de principiante, es como.. como... como E.L. James *CHA-CHAN* Sé que eso es malvado de mi parte, pero es la verdad ¿Qué gusto de separar oraciones con puntos aparte y/o seguidos que no tienen sentido? ¿Por qué utiliza cursiva tan descaradamente donde no se debe? ¿Por qué no encuentra algunas otras palabras para describir lo hermoso y sexy que es Remy?

Y los diálogos son tan forzados, las BFF (a.k.a. las Zonzas) tienden a hablar como unas adolescentes en una mala película romántica de los años ochenta ganadora del premio al peor guión de los Razzies. Y hay varios, así que mucho valor para leer eso. Luego el soliloquio de Remy casi al final, quise arrancarme los ojos.

Y llegamos a Remy, lo único bueno del libro. Tan bueno que es DE LO ÚNICO QUE SE HABLA EN TODO EL LIBRO. LO ÚNICO. La ventaja del libro es que es fácil de leer. Porque los párrafos se repiten y puedes saltarte varios. ¡Pero, eh, que le he dado un cumplido!

De verdad es una pena que el libro no me haya gustado. Tenía aparentemente todo para gustarme, pero la narración tan pobre y la trama por demás predecible y sin nada nuevo, solo me hizo renegar y confirmar que escritoras buenas de género erótico son escasas, como unicornios casi. (Sí existen, los unicornios digo, conozco varios)

¿Leeré el segundo? ¡Sí! Yey, soy terca y masoquista. A pesar de que la narración es horrible (como me corroboraron muy bien en goodreads, así que no solo es cosa mía) quiero leerlo porque como TODOS los párrafos de Real señalaba: Remy es sexy.

I am completely love Remy so much!!! Every reader will definitely fall in love with him too because he is a complete Alpha man that posses everything he has. Throughout the book, we get to see every emotional and action that Remy makes especially around Brooke. Brooke was utterly attracted to Remy from the start. Remy was definitely different men since Brooke usually does not date at all. This book is amazing because we get to see how Brooke falls in love with him since he is amazing! Remy love Brooke so much that he will do everything for her. There were one obstacle in the way but it does not overcome them since they end up together at the end. Remy is one of my best book boyfriend ever! This book has so much sexual tension that it makes the reading even greater. The sex between them are so hot and sexy that it will make you hot while reading it! Must-REad.

Remington Tate has a bad-boy rep in and out of the ring, a granite-hard body, and a raw, animal power that sends his female fans into a frenzy. But from the moment their eyes lock, the only woman he wants is Brooke Dumas. His desire is pure, all-consuming, and real!

Emotion is very high in this series about an underground MMA fighter who falls for a woman who was a world class runner, but lost her chance at the Olympics due to a career ending injury. She is looking for a new life and career and he provides one for her. Their desire for each other goes beyond simple want or even hunger; these two have a very deep need for what the other provides including physical and emotional stability.

I was a bit wary going into Real, because I wasn’t sure I’d like it very much, despite the outrageous amount of love for it. But oh my goodness, I did! I really enjoyed it! It was better than I’d expected, and I wish I’d read it sooner. A fighter romance, with an intense book boyfriend I totally fell in love with, Real was one emotional roller coaster to read.

Brooke was honestly a great heroine. I never had a problem with her, and to be honest, if I were in her shoes, I would have NO idea how to deal with Remington Tate and his advances. I’d probably just melt into a puddle of goo, or just faint dead. In any case, she was an interesting change in heroines. She was a former track runner, but her dreams were ruined when she got seriously injured. Now she helps athletes with their bodies.

The moment Brooke and Remy meet, it’s instant lust at first sight. They connect on a powerfully physical way, and the emotional part slowly becomes a part of them. Besides the incredible lust Brooke and Remy have for each other, I loved that the book wasn’t predictable. I had no idea what would happen one moment, and I’d be wonderfully surprised. There are quite a few plot twists as well, and they’re so incredibly well done! So filled with angst (my favorite thing ever to read!), my heart was hurting so much, and I was desperately wishing for Remy and Brooke’s HEA.

This book was scorching. Remy is intensely raw and masculine and… *phew* oh man. I’m not even sure I can do justice to describing the way he comes off the pages. He’s built for power and strength as a fighter, so don’t even get me started on the delicious body this man has. Lickable abs indeed. (And I just love the model on the cover–I think it’s a pretty perfect image of Remy!). The tension–sexual tension–is completely off the charts! Remy is an intensely physical man, and when he sets his sights on Brooke… wow. It did get to be a bit much at times, but I totally loved Remy, so who cares? He’s insanely possessive and protective of Brooke, and he’s got such a way with words, I was swooning so hard!

“You’ll leave me the second it gets too steep, and you’ll leave me with nothing – when I want you like I’ve never wanted anything in life. You’re all I think about, dream about. I get high and low and it’s not about you now, it’s not even about me anymore. I can’t sleep, can’t think, can’t concentrate worth shit anymore and it’s all because I want to be the fucking ‘one’ for you.”

Remington Tate has got some things haunting him though. It was something I never expected, and so different from anything I’ve ever read, so even his secrets were an even more refreshing change than Remy already was.

And because of this book, I’ve fallen madly in love with the song Iris. *swoon*

4 hearts! Maybe a 4.5 at some parts, but overall, I’d definitely recommend this book. It was a perfect romance!
