While searching for stolen dragon eggs, newly-engaged couple Kianthe and Reyna find themselves smack-dab in the middle of a swashbuckling love story. Begrudgingly, the couple joins forces with Bobbie, one of Arlon's constables--who happens to be Serina's childhood friend. Bobbie is determined to capture the pirate before anyone else. Which would be a lot easier if Serina didn't absolutely loathe her now. As Kianthe and Reyna watch this relation-shipwreck from afar, it quickly becomes apparent that these disaster lesbians need all the help they can get. And luckily, matchmaking is Reyna's favorite past time. The dragon eggs may have to wait.

To the people who gave me one-star reviews because the first book "had lesbians." I doubled the lesbians in this one. Just for you.

Bobbie expertly tied Serina's wrists together with a rope. 

“Huh. You're awfully good at that. Had a lot of practice?" Kianthe said innocently. 

Bobbie nearly choked, fidgeting suddenly with the knots. 

"I think you're reading too many romance novels." Kianthe laughed, winding her arms around Reyna's waist. 

Reyna intertwined their fingers, leaning back against the mage. "And who do I have to thank for that?" A pause. "Perhaps we should introduce rope into our evenings on occasion." 

A thrill swept through Kianthe, and she struggled to keep her voice level, play it cool. "Ah, sure. Sure. Whatever you want, darling" 

Bobbie gripped her mount's reins, keeping him as stable as she could. "It's going to be tight!" Panic tinged her voice. 

“That's what she said," Kianthe shouted back. 

“Right now?" The boat listed further, and Bobbie's horse whinnied as everyone staggered. Kianthe ripped a wave up to level the boat, and despite all that, Bobbie still managed to look indignant. "Really?" 

“I make no apologies." Kianthe grinned wickedly. "Hang on!"

"This is divine," she gushed, taking another sip. "Ha. Divine wine. Wine-vine. Wine-vine!" She cackled and took another deep gulp, savoring the sugary flavor. Kianthe would be so proud of that pun, because wine grew on vines.

Wait. Wine didn't grow on vines. Grapes grew on vines.

Searching for Reyna was even easier. All Kianthe had to do was step into the river, and it told her exactly where they'd gone. A few perplexed sailors squinted at her as she hauled herself out of the harbor, and in answer to their unspoken question, she called, "I’m keeping up on current events." 

She thought it was a funny river pun, but they clearly didn't get It. Tough crowd. 

Reyna patted her arm, then stepped to the door and called, "Serina, we're going to take a few moments of privacy. Is that all right?" 

High overhead, Serina sounded exasperated. "Trust me, I won't be bothering you." 

Reyna smiled and closed the door. At the windows, Kianthe hesitated. "Here? I mean, I guess we can check 'on a ship' off our list-“ She slipped out of her heavy cloak.

"Don't threaten my fiancée," she told his dazed form.

 Kianthe raised an eyebrow. "That was sexy as hells. 

Tyal himself was left glowering on his own deck, but when he shouted something, his words were magically lost to the winds. As they sailed north, Kianthe flipped him off, at which Reyna heaved a sigh. 

“Darling, you are the picture of professionalism." 

“No, love, that's you," Kianthe replied, pulling her into a fierce hug. Her nerves were buzzing after the fight, even though they'd had it well enough in hand. "Thanks for not killing anyone," she whispered against Reyna's sweat-slicked skin.

“Playing with fire is my specialty.”She grinned, finally looking back to her normal self. 

“Been waiting to use that?" Reyna drawled. 

“Elemental jokes? You wood not believe how many I have."
