I love how balanced this book is. McLaughlin inserts enough human examples and stories to keep this book personal and help make sense of tough biblical issues while leaving enough ambiguity for readers to think through things. I especially liked the topics on sexuality and marriage written from the perspective of a same-sex attracted female Christian, as well as the chapter on slavery. Many books of this nature come across as having all the answers, whereas this one presents an honest, fair look that's concise and readable.
