Reminds me a lot of "Redeeming Love" by Francine Rivers. I love that book, so this is another one I will constantly be recommending. Now it's not gonna have a 5 star rating, because there were points that I couldn't follow, maybe I (22F) am too young or don't have enough experience or knowledge to know of, but IMO I think the ending was unfinished. I still needed more from the ending, im not saying it needed to be tied up in a pretty bow with 'and they both lived happily ever after',  but there was SOMETHING MISSING.

           I loved the 1st half. It's so sweet and sad and frustrating. The religion complicates every part of the story. It's practically its own character. But, Corinne has these secular issues & insecurities, too, that she acknowledges...but, also doesn't. It makes her relatable & realistic. You root for her. You want to yell at her. Enoch is the same way--Im rooting for him but I want to yell at him every few pages. Then, you hit the  music pages. The music references hooked me...They go to a Wilco concert? They discuss Ani Difranco & Indigo Girls & John Prine? Yes, please. 

The second half turns into '50 Shades of Mormon.'  I can see why people think Stephenie Meyer is the actual author. It's repetitive in the same way that Twilight was repetitive....so many declarations of love, so many of the same descriptions of physicality...it's one of the things I hated when I tried to read Twilight. And, they're the exact opposite of Bella & Edward. B & E were beautiful & haughty & a bit vain. These two characters are so opposite that it feels like a giant red flag, if that makes sense. Like, maybe the author purposely wrote them to be the opposite. 

But, Corrine & Enoch's love story makes sense in ways that B & E's love story never did...mainly, that they actually have a back story & have known each other for most of their lives. And, they're awkward. They do dumb things. They make terrible decisions...in very realistic, relatable & frustrating ways. Like Insaid, I LOVED the first half. I did not hate the ending. It's a solid, easy read but I would definitely warn people about the sex. For two really sheltered people, they got super comfortable & creative in the bedroom real damn fast!

I wanted to love this book so much! It was so quirky and not the usual love story. The first half of the book, I was so absorbed in the story and loved how the characters developed.

The second half felt like a throw away. I love reading romance novels, but I felt like the characters abandoned parts of themselves and weren’t as well developed as the story went on. The second half was super cringe to me. I had all of these ideas in my head of how it would end and it had the most ridiculous, let down of an ending. 

I’m only giving it 3 stars because I loved the first half of the book and really fell in love with the characters.
