Thing is, Reyna works as one of the Queen’s private guards, and Kianthe is the most powerful mage in existence. Leaving their lives isn’t so easy.

But after an assassin takes Reyna hostage, she decides she’s thoroughly done risking her life for a self-centered queen. Meanwhile, Kianthe has been waiting for a chance to flee responsibility–all the better that her girlfriend is on board. Together, they settle in Tawney, a town that boasts more dragons than people, and open the shop of their dreams.

What follows is a cozy tale of mishaps, mysteries, and a murderous queen throwing the realm’s biggest temper tantrum. In a story brimming with hurt/comfort and quiet fireside conversations, these two women will discover just what they mean to each other… and the world.

We get tossed about 2 years into the relationship but it doesnt feel confusing at all. I usually read build up romances so im surprised at how invested I was in Reyna's saftey and their relationship so quickly. This has to be some of the best communication ive ever seen between a book couple like oh my god.  10/10 , the plot is paced perfectly, the magic isn't overly complicated & is easy to understand and again the romance is beautiful. 

Side note : Cant wait till that mf Tilane dies too

I love cosy fantasy books, and this fit the description. It’s kind of like slice of life fantasy, with semi-low stakes. The writing was entertaining, the characters were sweet, and the story was interesting. I literally couldn’t put it down, I’m starting the sequel immediately!

Not only was it veryyyyy cute but the action was well written and not too much for me. It was nice reading a cozy chapter right after action happened. 

Also loved the representation! Not only sexuality but also gender and pronouns weren’t a big theme, it was normal to be gay and use they/them! What I would give to live in Tawney…

I loved the special care the author took when writing/including details of mental health, past traumas, and slow healing and how they looped those things in with love languages and found family. My only complaint about this book was some bits felt a little over explained, like instead of letting the reader connect the dots, the author really laid out those inferences for you. 

tldr/ this cozy fantasy felt like a comfort movie - it’s not life altering, but it makes you feel good, it’s easy to rewatch, and I could see myself going back to it again and again.

A lovely little queer cozy drama taking place in a fantasy world. There's nothing complex here, but folks are queer, there's magic, and also tea and books. Very enjoyable and fast read that I tackled in chunks before bed to lull me to a cozy sleep.

This was a cute fantasy romance book with mid stakes. There were some really good moments in here, but honestly I was more invested with the enemies to lovers side characters than the MCs love story and main plot. Unfortunately, a lot about this book fell short for me. About 50% in I started skim reading because I was growing bored with it. However, I was wanting a relaxed read and this fit the bill.

As the author it was inspired by Legends & Lattes but it wasn't a copy and paste of the plot. 

The characters were well thought out and their relationship was pure & I loved the way that they were so different but together were so cute. 

I loved the premise of a tea & bookshop it sounds so cozy and seeing them build it into some the whole community gathers around was just the cutest.

This is by far one of my favorite reads of the year. I love the amount of detail put into this book and how well the story was told. I picked up the book to read last night and did not want to put it down.

There are so many relateable things happening in this book too and so much character growth. I cannot wait for the next in the series!
