This part history part memoir by Penaluna is exactly what the philosophy world needed right now. Female philosophers–as Penaluna explains extensively–are not well researched and well talked about. I believe this is one of the first books that really delves deep into the problems that faced early women philosophers and taught me a lot about these women’s early though processes that were continually put down by the men of that era. It would be nice to say that philosophy has changed in the past centuries but, unfortunately, it really has not. I would recommend this to anyone interested in a beginners entry into women of the philosophy movement, or just interested in philosophy in general!
