I Married A Merman

I am sad to tell you I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first three books. Well, since this series features character-driven stories you can guess that my less enjoyable experience is due to me not caring for the characters.

At first, I was not fond of their chemistry. Didn't see the connections as much as in the other stories. The attractiveness between the two MCs felt forced.

Then, the FMC happened. Omg. As I continued on with the book, I started disliking her ! So much aspects about her were unlikabke to me. First, her self-consciousness bothered me so much, like you need to be a certain body shape to be worthy and everything. I just couldn't past the "self bodyshaming". Ugh. And then as the story went on she got a ""better"" bodyshape (plot related) and she said things like 

"My tits ! [...] whatever sagginess they'd experienced before belonged to a distant past"

"My waist had narrowed, giving me that sinfully hourglass figure that some women got a rib removed to achieve"

I mean I get it, the FMC has health problems basically and that's what the plot is about. Clearly, it was meant to portray her as happy as she gets better but I felt like the FMC was lowering her past self and she is at her best with a bodyshape that fits the standards more. Well, it made me disliking her very much.

This and the signs of her stupidity. Wow some of her lines made my eyes roll like literally. I had the feelings her stupid questions were a way to explain the worldbuilding but yeah it didn't give me a great portrait of the FMC.

As for the MMC, didn't care for him. Cliché, basic, blinded by his love. Yeah, nothing memorable about him.

Still, its my fourth book in this series and I can tell you I enjoy the worldbuilding, the author created, very much ! I love that with each book, we visit a different planet. Therefore, we meet a new society with their own traditions, morals and culture. This aspect of the entire series is fascinating and clearly it made me want to lean toward this series eveytime I want a good Alien Romance. Obviously, can't wait to read the next one !
