remina has suffered more than jesus christ.

Lol one planet licks another. Classic Ito.

The story was quite infuriating but the art was amazing !

I LOVED Uzumaki when I read it a few months ago and that might have colored my expectations for this book. It was good! Very Lovecraftian cosmic horror and an amazing premise all around. I just had too many issues with the plot and characterization (obvious Christian parallels, a titular character who has absolutely no agency and literally just gets shoved around once the action starts, and many more) to really get absorbed in the story and the horror like I did with Uzumaki. I'll also admit that my reading experience was not ideal as I read an advance copy with a huge watermark that definitely distracted from the art. I likely will read Gyo or Tomie next, but maybe I'll revisit Remina sometime. I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley.

Pulpy Sci-Fi Horror done by the one and only Junji Ito. You're either gone of love it or your not. For me, it was tons of fun.

I thought it was going for a decent metaphor about the madness of crowds and fame at first—but it was mostly just a really well drawn absurdist horror that had trouble saying anything coherent at all. Though it did keep things interesting, as the absurdism wound up and up.

Another long form Ito story, soooo... didn't care for it unfortunately. No surprise anthology stories to save this one

..oh my god

The plot here was pretty weak overall. No real depth to any character, but what can you expect from a short one-off. I mean maybe I expected at least Remina to have something more than constant sobbing. Some pretty cool visuals in some spots, unsurprising for Ito :)

If I have any complaints about this book at all it's only that the story feels quite rushed. As with all of Ito's work (that I've read, at least), there is a sick and haunting sense of cosmic horror that pervades throughout, combining with the horrible things human beings can do to one another when they're frightened. The imagery is gorgeous while still being awful, and there are a couple of instances where Ito makes use of the page turn that put a real pit in my stomach, a delicious feeling that I can never get enough of. Again, if I have any complaints it's that this is a story I could have lived in for a few days, yet finished in a morning. It's not often that I wish a book were longer, so this almost gets points for being one of those. A wonderful horror tale from a master.

Was a good one.

Very gripping but I hate most of the lack of explanation for anything that was going on.

Damsel-in-distress ちゃん! Sob sob sob!!! 👁💥☄️👅 ! Not my favorite, but a cool sci-fi concept.

It's my first time picking up a horror manga and it was a ride! It wasn't scary by any means, but definitely weird and unsettling. Will definitely pick up his other works!
