At first I was a bit hesitant to read this because I was worried it would end up like the other poetry books that aren't...deep? enough for me I guess? I'm very picky when it comes to the poetry books that I read because I want them to touch my heart with beautiful words that have depth in their meaning, not just sentences with line breaks. When I started reading this I felt - like truly felt. It wasn't because of the writing style, but because of the message of the works itself. I guess I read this at the perfect time because I ran out of comforting words to say to myself, and reading this gave me so much comfort to the extent that I teared up a lot and even cried at one point. Reyna Biddy was able to share her story in a way that offered comfort to those who were in, or also suffered, the same situation, and even to those who weren't. I learned a lot of things about and from her, and I guess I could say that reading this somehow made me stronger. Definitely would recommend to anyone who needs a boost in their self-esteem!
