shouldve been titled it "the drowning pain" or something bc WHAT THE FUCK REBECCA

gak pernah sepengen meninggal ini

oh, but history moves in such cruel circles.

“She’s the only divine thing he’s ever believed in. The only creature in this vast, cruel land who could kill him. And sometimes, in his loveliest dreams, he imagines she does.” i hope i die

5/5 You know what, I don't care what will happen in the third book, I have a terrible feeling what will, but I simply don't care. In my mind, in another universe, they are happy together, with or without kids, they are best friends and lovers who fight but always make up, they have their own safe place on earth, and die together of old age after spending their lives happily in love. "He loves her. Of this he’s certain. He loves her laugh; that sharp, sudden sound; the cynical laugh that always comes too quick, like it’s ripped out of her. He loves her quick, confident grin. He loves her resilience, her bravery, even her impulsiveness. She’s everything he’s not: unbound, reckless, free. He’s never known anyone like her. She terrifies him, and he loves her so much it hurts." "He can’t take his eyes off of her. She’s the most magnificent thing he’s ever seen."

Why would you write this
She's the only divine thing he's ever believed in. The only creature in this vast, cruel land who could kill him. And sometimes, in his loveliest dreams, he imagines she does.

“She’s the only divine thing he’s ever believed in. The only creature in this vast, cruel land who could kill him. And sometimes, in his loveliest dreams, he imagines she does.” no words, just pain. PAIN.

I made the mistake to read this directly after The Burning God. I wept for hours. I would devor an entire book written from Nezha's point of view, it would be so interesting. Enemies to lovers back to enemies is the most cruel thing I've ever read😭 I loved them together 🥺

nezha… i love you so much. literally loved reading his pov it made the ending of the last book so much better

3.5 🌟 It was refreshing to see Nezha's POV. I wish there was more of his side if the story.

Short (maybe 15 pages) work about some of the events of the series through Nezha's eyes. The way he talks about Rin? Someone sedate me. Seeing things through Nezha's POV makes me want a sad cig and a good cry session.

Nezha’s pov hurt even more 💔💔💔

2023 edit: i’m recording this as only another read even though i could recite these 15 pages in my sleep because i’m counting this as part of an official tpw series reread. “They’ve been going back and forth, he and Rin, for what feels like a lifetime. But it’s got to come to an end.” tdf completely reframes the rinezha dynamic and i still haven’t moved on, so for that i’m pushing the rating up to the 5 stars it deserves. stream mtr by taylor swift ok bye ——————- not me understanding and sympathising with nezha *sigh*

so no one told me i was gonna be sobbing over breakfast over this book. i just finished the burning god yesterday, this is too much 😭

she’s so fucking evil for this

Sobbing

I HATE YOU RFK

SOBS CRIES DIES

this woman is going to pay for my therapy

this hurt me so much

A short story told from Nezha's point of view, published after The Dragon Republic. It contains scenes from The Poppy War as well as the second book. Can't guarantee that you won't feel things.

3.5 stars It was nice to get into Nezha's head a bit, but I don't feel like it added much to the overall story.

** spoiler alert ** I think this has actually confused me more now than the ending of TDR. I don’t understand exactly why Nezha is so okay with the Hesperians taking over. Is it because they’ll kill the Empress? And he keeps talking about how good the Republic will be but hasn’t he seen how his father has already turned against the people who supported him? I just find it hard to believe that he’s so brainwashed that he can’t see what’s going on. Not to mention even before the battle at Arlong it seems like he’s already decided that Rin and the republic can’t co-exist even though she’s still on their side at this stage. I just need someone to explain to me all the motive behind Nezha’s feelings cause I feel like I don’t understand them. OH AND ANOTHER THING HE LITERALLY CALLED ON THE DRAGON TO SAVE RIN FROM DROWNING EVEN THO HE HATES DOING THAT YET HES STILL GONNA KILL HER? It’s just so stupid to me, Nezha doing this all seems so forced
Highlights

She's the only divine thing he's ever believed in. The only creature in this vast, cruel land who could kill him. And sometimes, in his loveliest dreams, he imagines she does.
my guy worshipped her and still she decided to make him kill her i CANNOT DO THIS.

In all of his worst nightmares, she's dying. She's fading away in his arms, helpless and whimpering, while hot, dark blood spills over his fingers. This, he tells her. He doesn't tell her that his hand holds the blade.
I CANNOT DO THIS this man needs justice what the hell

Duty is not a concept she understands, because she is beholden to no one. She's tied to nothing. There's no weight sinking her down. She has her secrets, her painful memories, but she doesn't drown in them.

Duty is not a concept she understands, because she is beholden to no one. She’s tied to nothing. There’s no weight sinking her down. She has her secrets, her painful memories, but she doesn’t drown in them. She ignores them, shoves them aside, sets them on fire. Nezha wonders what it’s like to be that reckless, that free.

He wonders sometimes if Rin even cares what she’s fighting for, so long as she gets to fight.

He wishes pain bad enough would mean things were coming to an end. But he’s known for a while now that he would always live through it; that he would always heal, survive, and return to suffer more.
