My husband. My monster. The truth isn't always what it seems. Lia doesn't realize that, but she will. Soon. I chose this life. This road. This twisted arrangement. For her, I made a deal with the devil. For her, I toyed with fate and death. There's no going back. I stole her and like any thief, I won't return her. Lia is my addiction. My obsession. My love. Mine. This book is the final part of a trilogy and is not standalone.

4 Explosive Stars

Amazing trilogy!!! I loved it so much - especially Lia. Like seriously, she grows into this strong character - and finally steps up to protect her family. Adrian... I loved him too but probably not as much as Lia or Yan. I wish we could see more of Lia and her Papa and that family. I hope we get to see more of them in the future books!

i loved this so much i don't have words, i love adrianlia so so so much, my parents. i read this so fast, it literally consumed me

- "Life is slowly leaving Lia, and soon, it'll be all gone.
Everything about her will be only a part of my memories. Not if I have a say in it. She might have jumped from a cliff to escape me, but that won't be happening in this life. She's my wife. My son's mother.
Fucking mine. And I'll go through hell itself if it means keeping her there."

- "Even as Winter, he came back to me. He treated me like I mattered. He kissed me. He sat down and smiled at me. I want that Adrian, not the closed off monster he becomes when he's enraged. Or worse, when he thinks I've cheated on him. He saw Luca kissing me, so my case isn't looking so good, but I want to fight. For him. For us. For the relationship we've never properly had."

- "Why didn't you?"
"Because you became fucking mine."

- ""Don't protect him with your life."
"I won't. I have a family, remember?"
"Didn't stop your father."
"I'm not him, Lenochka. Never."

- "Not to me. I don't believe in second chances, Lenochka."
"But you. gave me one. Right?"
"You're the exception."

- "The man who showed me a different world, one where I'm cared for and I come before anything else.
The man who fought for me when I didn't have the will to fight for myself. The man who saved me, even when he tortured me. Who took my hand when I thought there was no hope left for me. The man who gave me the most precious gift in the form of Jeremy and nurtured him with me. He provided me light, even when he himself was always used to the darkness."

- "I didn't know you were a cheater."
"I'm not, usually,"
"You just did."
"Only for you, Lenochka."

- "Are you. are you going to kill me now?"
"Never."
"I-isn't that what you're supposed to do?"
"Maybe. But like you, I'm unable to hurt you, Lenochka, even if my own life is on the line."

- "Remember when you asked me if I ever loved you?"
"I didn't understand my emotions at the time, but I do now. I do love you, Lia. I always have. But my form of love isn't sweetness or softness. It's nothing noble or delicate. My love is selfish and villainous. My love is the type where I will kill people to protect you and erase others to avenge you. My love is possessive, obsessive, and knows no boundaries, not when I first met you and certainly not now." "And because my love is selfish, I will put you ahead of everything else."

- "Is what worth it?"
"Losing everything for her?"
"Absolutely."

- "I wouldn't have been...alive. Because even though I performed the act of living before, I've never truly lived until Lia came into my life. I meant what I told Kolya earlier, Lia is worth failing my system, digging my own grave, and putting myself in this unfavorable position. I would do it all over again if it means having her."

- "Then don't say you'll leave me again. You're my last stop and I plan to stay, not move on."
"You're my last stop, too."

- "The scent of roses fills my nostrils and I breathe her in, engraving her to memory. She'll always be my lone rose--the resilient rose that I'd pluck from the side of the road over and over again, even if her thorns caused me to bleed. She's my rose. Her thorns as well as her exotic scent are mine and mine alone."

- "Because I'm a woman and my existence doesn't matter?"
"Because you're my wife and I'd rather die a thousand times over than put you in danger."

- "I'm sorry for making you feel bad when I should've done the opposite. I lost the ability to feel love when I was a boy, but you've slowly but surely yanked those feelings out of me. You didn't only yank them out, you also held tight to a part of me I thought was long gone. For you, I want to go back in time and keep that part alive for the moment I met you. In the past, I thought people were destined to leave, so being attached to anyone was useless. And I thought that at some point, you would leave, too. I fought the pull to you. I fought the lure of your rose scent and your breakable softness. But I couldn't fucking last. Not when I craved your presence the moment you were out of sight. Not when my thoughts of breaking your purity turned to a need to protect it. I told you how different my love is, how dark it can get, but I do love you, more than I've ever loved anyone in my life. I don't only need you; I also genuinely cannot live without you and the light you bring to my darkness. I know you deserve better, but I'm unable to let you go, so I'll try my best to be worthy of you, Lenochka."

- "I'll try to be better. Though I'll probably never be a hero."
"Who says I want a hero? I'm perfectly happy with you, my villain."

- "The fact that I get to live it with my Lenochka is the reason why I not only endure it, but I also enjoy it. Because this is our family. My family, the one I would protect with my life."

Consumed by Deception is the finale in the Deception Trilogy and this is by far my favorite book of the series. I absolutely had a blast with what Rina Kent delivered on this story. This is where we such much more issues finally being resolved, our couple fighting for each other, and finally actually communicating. In the previous books there was so much angst, misdirection in their relationship and just them both being too prideful to resolve the situation. But in this final installment, we actually get solid relationship building aspects and its books like this in why I love this author so much.

So what I loved most was our couple resolving their issues. Actually realizing that their mental illnesses is what is causing so much confusion, and seeing them both together work on rebuilding their relationship into what it needs to be. The actions with the mafia also escalated in this book so I really enjoyed the danger elements that were introduced into this one. I really fell hard for Lia and her strength and seeing her fight for the relationship was so attractive. Its not super common to have the heroine fight equally for the relationship and I found it refreshing to see her fight for the hero and knowing he is worth fighting for. We also see how well they do together when they are in sync in their relationship and how that reflects in them being parents. I just found it so sexy and attractive in so many ways. I wish this book was longer because this book just was everything I could have hoped for and more.

Nothing really, its not a 6 star read, but its definitely a five star read so definitely up there with top favorite of the year!

Consumed by Deception was a thrilling edgy mafia romance that melted my heart with poignant emotion, characters to cheer on and writing that keeps you up at night. A TREASURE OF A READ!

Consumed by Deception is everything I love in a mafia marriage. Give me a couple who will fight tooth and nail for their marriage and I’ll turn into the biggest pile of sappy, mush. I swear.

It’s clear how deeply Adrian loves Lia even though he was too much of an idiot to tell her and she was too narrow sighted to see him for who he truly was. Both of these characters are damaged, neither one of them knew the other nearly as well as they thought and let me tell you... it was freaking infuriating at times. Then you remember all they’ve been through and you soften. Not enough to where you don’t want to reach through the pages and bonk their heads but enough to where you hopelessly wish for them ignite into the roaring fire they can be.

Lia’s character had a ton of things she needed to make up for with me. I didn’t trust her. At times I even wanted to shield Adrian from her, thinking she didn’t deserve such a fierce love, while simultaneously wanting them to work for him. But she won me over, she really did. I was all in
because I loved Adrian so much. But eventually I saw in her what he did. Passion, loyalty, a stubborn strength that doesn’t cease. I fell in love with Lia in this book too.

Needless to say that this was the exact conclusion that was needed to tie it all the mayhem together. At 50% I remember thinking this is too perfect, Rina is about to rip my heart out. And she did. Ugh. But she puts it back together so beautifully you don’t care. The mix of desire, danger and love is heady, making this trilogy unrivaled to Rina’s previous work.
