Rina Kent

From USA Today bestselling author Rina Kent comes a new STANDALONE MM college romance. I'm not attracted to men. Or so I thought before I slammed into Nikolai Sokolov. A mafia heir, a notorious bastard, and a violent monster. An ill-fated meeting puts me in his path. And just like that, he has his sights set on me. A quiet artist, a golden boy, and his enemy's twin brother. He doesn't seem to care that the odds are stacked against us. In fact, he sets out to break my steel-like control and blur my limits. I thought my biggest worry was being noticed by Nikolai. I'm learning the hard way that being wanted by this beautiful nightmare is much worse. This book can be read on its own, but for a better understanding of the world, you might want to start with God of Malice.

God of Fury

Sophia

I lift my hand, about to pull at my skull. Sometimes, I wish I could smash it against the nearest wall and watch as everything spills and shatters.

How dare he talk to me in that mocking tone?

I’m Brandon King and that last name means something in this world.

But you don’t. Without your papa’s last name, you’re nothing.

Without my punctual set of actions, I’m nothing.

every day, I wake up at five. No exception—not during holidays, not after a night of drinking or partying or doing whatever is expected from a uni student. Five. Always. Every single day.

Then I put on my clothes, do a smoothie, and go for a run at five thirty. Back at seven. Shower. Breakfast. Wallow in my studio for another hour or two. Then school. Then I go to practice with the lacrosse team. More wallowing. Talking, smiling, laughing, caring, texting, liking, being.

in and day out, I have to exist. To be out there and fucking stay there. In the middle of people with blurry faces and names and personalities.

I got a better reaction from him by plucking out his AirPods, blondie. Not that I care.

And yet my hand twitches, demanding I throw her off the nearest, steepest cliff.

dare she interrupt our morning ritual that’s been going on for three days?

The upgraded nausea dies down and I’m hit with the familiar feeling of fucked-up Brandon in epic proportions.

ink swells beneath my feet and I feel my stomach churning.

When the others try to interfere, he drives his fists in their faces in a long succession of punches.

And yet as I stand here, the only feeling that goes through me is resounding relief.

Want to blame me again?” I murmur against his skin.

A puff of air leaves his mouth and he nods once.

I slam my lips to his, taking what’s mine.

I'm terrified of what he might do in this book

The first time I’ve considered taking the pain as long as I get the pleasure first.

“It’s just a scratch.” I try to retrieve it, but he tightens his grip on my wrist. Over the watch I never remove.

“We’re strangers in public, Nikolai. I mean it.”

“Fiiiine. Any other dictatorial conditions?”

“That’s it for now. I’ll let you know if I come up with anything else.”

“Since we’re done with that stupidity. It’s time for my condition.” He wraps his fingers around my neck. “Don’t run away from me again. If you do, I’ll flip the whole world upside down to find you. You're mine now, baby."

“You’ll kiss me?” he asks cautiously, hopefully, even.

“I’ll always kiss you, baby.” I fall on top of him, my lips crushing to his, my chest pressing on his muscles, and our limbs entangling.

I hum but say nothing. I might have started indulging in them since Bran bought some once. I finished the whole box in one night and had a mini sugar coma.

He’s started hiding them from me since then and only leaves two pieces out like a stingy asshole.

Omg he actually did it! He slept in a bed😭

“Shut up.” I wiggle free of his hold. “I’m going to sleep.”

A huge body slams into mine, crashing me into the bed. I groan as I try to push him off me, but it’s impossible.

“Hey, kid.” I pull Bran up and wrap my arm around his waist. “He’s my prince. Back off.”

“Nikolai!” He elbows me. “You’ll scare her. Stop it."

“Hmph.” She hikes a hand on her hip. “When I grow up, I’m going to marry him.”

Sometimes BookTok leads me right, but most times it leads me wrong. 😔 Was hoping to like this as much as everyone else.

Witty/Banter/Reaction of Laughter: 😂😂😂😂

God of Fury is the fifth installment in the "Legacy of Gods" series and this series has completely blew me away and I was so curious to see how this author would handle a MM romance as this is her very first novel in this type of romantic interest and she knocked this aspect right out of the park. God of Fury is a story that I think may push some readers and may not exactly work for everyone but I was so fascinated in the growth that we see our couple go through within this story. I had such a fun time with this match up because on the surface you wouldn't think that these two would have anything in common, but when it comes to the heart and mind....they truly find what they need in each other but their journey is a battle.

So the setup of the story is that we have our two male protoganists: Bran and Niko. Niko is the psychopath of the two. He is such an alpha male, and he has his eye on Bran and wants him more than anything. So much so that he is losing interest in what he normally has interest in. Then we have Bran, who has his own mental struggles he has been battling it, and is more of a demisexual. So we see how struggles being in relationships...until Niko. Niko has him feeling things especially more sexually that he has never really experienced but he has always considered himself straight, and doesn't know how to face up to being attracted to Niko in the way that he is. There is this pull and push between Niko and Bran on what they have and if its worth fighting for....will Bran be able to fight for Niko and their love before Niko gives up on him completely?

Wow! this book packed such a punch and I was there for the ride that this author takes us on. I absolutely adored Niko so much. He was a hoot. Seriously this character had me laughing all over the place. He is such a anti hero and its delicious. I have always loved Niko though and if you have read the other books in the series you are very familiar with his crazy. Then we have Bran who is the prentious prideful of his group of friends. Bran has been the character that we have seen to be the most mysterious. We just know he is the serious twin, but his character is more in the background. In God of Fury we get to see his story and see his background and his story melted my heart and broke it just a bit. What we see Bran struggle with was so heartbreaking. Through much of the story you aren't sure what he is struggling with exactly or what trauma he was dealt, but you know its pretty bad and you know his family is ignorant of it. He has kept it hidden and for years has been dealing with severe depression and is on the verge of being suicidal. I really connected with his character and his struggles. I think if any reader has dealt with depression of any kind, they will be able to see so much of themselves within Bran's character.

So the romance is very push and pull. Bran is always on the run and Niko is the one chasing. But there is so much more happeni9ng with Bran than meets the eye. Niko knows that there is something deeper driving Bran's fear then just him coming out of the closet as gay. But Bran is on the run not just sexually or physically but also very emotionally. Niko is pretty patient considering the fact that he is a bit of a psychopath. We see how much he is having to deal with but also knowing that their relationship is practically forbidden and that Bran's twin is his greatest enemy. What we see being developed within the plot was so superb. It kept me on edge all the way through. What will really carry the reader through though is the depth of their relationship. I loved the feel of cat and mouse play game that these two go through and the third act was simply perfection. I knew going into this what was ahead for this one and its hard to see but Rina Kent really handled this scene so very well. I was highly impressed with how it was handled, and seeing how the family and especially Niko deals with it, just breaks your heart. But these two come out on top in the happily ever after and Kent has created such a unique dynamic romance that melted my heart from beginning to end.

The pacing in this book dragged a bit in some parts. The middle section of the story kinda was a bit slow at times. So I feel like there were aspects to the battle between Niko and Bran going back and forth that could have been reduced just a bit because it did get slightly repetitive. But I only knocked off half a star for this element as the rest of the story was a win for me.

God of Fury is a powerful story that tugs at your heartstrings and melts your heart at the deep vibrant emotion that carries the romance through. Its a story of identity, growth and learning to heal past wounds and embrace the love that is steady and impactful.

Seems that Bran runs way deeper than I thought, but as he hangs on to me as if I’m his only anchor, I know that I’ll never let him go. Not even if I burn with him. For him. In him. I’d willingly catch fire if he so much as asked me to.

I LOVED this book. No doubt the best of the series so far but I'm not surprised. I knew Brandon and Nikolai would be superior.

I got so emotional at Landon and Brandon in the end it was so heartwarming. Idk if it's because I'm a twin, too, but I even cried a bit when they finally hugged😭
