God of Pain A Grumpy Sunshine College Romance (Legacy of Gods #2)
Reviews

What the heck was going on? The begining was nice… but after that its a mess.

Fantastic give me 14 of them

I'm clearly a sucker for these

okay. listen. i LOVE my girl rina & i absolutely LOVE her books & i was so so excited to start reading GOP because of how adorable i found Creighton in GOM book, i also adored Annika and had such high expectations with the grumpy x sunshine trope but this did not give. It was enjoyable sure but it wasnt as enjoyable as i would expect a rina kent book to be personally. Maybe its just the LOG series (?) in general… but either way im not too hyped over it anymore. i will still be reading the other books in the series because why not but i wish it wasnt as bland as this book was. ALSO PLS. WHAT. IS. UP. WITH. THAT. NICKNAME?!!!!!! i cant i was crying tears whenever he called her “little purple” rina babe…up ur game w the nicknames this is PAINFUL to read. enjoyed this book either way, REMINGTON carried. thats it. HE CARRIED.

At first I liked this couple a bit more than the others but… the more I think about just the book… they kinda piss me off… expect Annika

★★,5

well i took a little to read all of this but damm this was something- annika and creighton uau i honestly have no words, i think i'm still processing chapter 39 this was really good like backstory, buildup and personality's, and everything was just on it. - "Why not me?" "I'm sure you wouldn't be interested." "What if I am?" - "Annika: One: Why do you call me little purple? Creighton: Aren't you obsessed with that color? Annika: But you aren't. Creighton: In my mind, you are the personification of that color." - "Even when I thought I had absolutely no interest in Annika Volkov and her annoying, chattering pres-ence, I still looked for her when she wasn't around. I never voiced it aloud, but I noticed when she wasn't there. Despite myself. Back then, she didn't come to the girls' apartment for three davs and was confined to her brother's mansion. And a part of me wanted to see her." - "This isn't the first time I've been in Creigh's Range Rover. He used to drive a Porsche, but a week ago, I complained that it was too small when he told me to sit on his lap, so he changed it two days later." - "I was kidding." "Since when do you do that?" "Since you." "You also laughed." "I only laugh around you." - "Did you like it?" "Very." "And here I thought you weren't a fan of the movies." "I wasn't talking about the movie." - "That won't be happening. You have me now." "Does that mean you're my boyfriend?" "If you want to put that label on it." "What would you call me?" "My girl." "I like that.""You're like my man then." "Your man, huh?" - "I like spending time with her. She's the light I never thought I needed and the one person who can fill up the hollowness." - "I might have been the one who dominated her, but she's the one who's left her mark everywhere. In my air, on my skin, and down to the marrow of my fucking bones." - ""But you hate my family," "I can still fuck you." "Remember this, Annika. There's never been a day where you haven't been mine." - "I was his even when I thought we were over. I was his when I was trying to move on. I'll always be his. Just like he'll always be mine." - "Want me to tear into you and claim you as mine? Because that's what you'll always be, Annika." "You can shoot me and run. You can push me and leave." "But you are my girl, and you'll remain my girl despite your fucking parents." "I'm the only home you'll ever have. My bed is the only bed you'll ever sleep in, so the next time I say you're my home, you say I'm yours, too." - "I was always meant to break Annika Volkov. I just didn't know I'd be the one broken instead." - "You have the audacity to kidnap my daughter?" "Just like you had the audacity to take her from me in the first place." - "You're the only person who ever reached inside me, saw the ugly, rotten parts, but stayed anyway. You gave me yourself in spite of knowing how empty I am. You even filled me up with your endless energy, purple color, and fucking violets. I didn't understand how you liked me when I didn't like myself, how you fought to make me experience normal things despite my disinterest. When I found out the truth about my childhood, the only thing that broke me was knowing I couldn't be with you anymore. And when you didn't choose me and pulled that trigger, I became a bitter wanker with a death wish. I didn't care what happened as long as I had you, which is why I brought you here. But I realize now that it wasn't the right thing to do, which is why I chose to let you go. What you're doing isn't the right thing either. You might be able to live without me, but I won't survive a day without you, so your death won't solve any-fucking-thing. If you pull that trigger, mark my words, I will follow right after you." - "You'd rather die than let go of the past? "I would rather die than live without you." "You don't complete me, you're a part of me. If you go, that's not different than erasing me along with you." - "You win, little purple." "I win?" "All of me. My heart, body, and soul are yours. My grudge is also yours to do whatever you wish with." "Including moving past it?" "Including that." "I lost to you a long time ago. I love you, Annika. I love you to the point I see darkness without you and light only when I'm with you. You're my sanctuary and the one person who makes me whole."

I love love love Creighton!

This book was...weird.
It didn't feel like a dark romance at all, more like a fucked up romance about domestic violence. Seriously, why did he always had to push her around? Was a bit too much.
They were so sappy as well. Picnics on rooftops, cinema dates and dancing in the rain? It was so romantic I got whiplash everytime he told her to shut up. It was so unnecessary.
I wanted to read about a psycho like in Killian's book but Cray Cray was so normal most of the times, maybe a bit rude, it didn't feel dark. It just felt like reading about a jerk.
The family bonds were actually really cute. Even the friendships were adorable. I always forget they all have loving parents. Normally they are shitty people but since she wrote about them first (I only read Aiden and Elsa's trilogy) it makes sense they became good parents haha
It did bother me that they manhandeled her so often tho. Who are they telling her not to leave the house? My inner feminist was shaking with anger. Normally, I pretty much fine with everything but since this didn't felt like a dark romance they had no business telling her what to do or not to do.
Creighton as well. There needs to be a balance in the relationship. It's only fun when he's whipped during the day and only dominant during bed acitivities. He had no right whatsoever to control her 24/7 to the extent that he did. Again this only bothered me this much because it felt a normal romance - the vibes were just off with this one.
The conflict on the end felt so forced like literally nothing about it made sense. I guess she wanted a third act breakup and this was her way to do it.
However, as ridiculous as it was at times, I did enjoy it. I considered dnf-ing it more than once but in the end I was too curious about the other characters.

I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I’m seriously loving this series. This book was so addictive and I would have read it all in one sitting if life wasn’t constantly getting in the way. Creighton and Annika were my second favorite people while reading God of Malice. So I was quite excited to read this book. I love literally everything about these two. Annika and Creighton are on two completely different ends of the spectrum and yet they fit together so perfectly. I loved all of their interactions together. They’re so perfect for each other! I seriously don’t wanna say much more about this book because I don’t wanna give anything away. This book seriously had my headphones glued to my head anytime I had the chance to read it. Every second of this book was packed with a punch, and left me breathless at some points. I am absolutely invested in the series and can’t wait for the next book to come out! I really need to go back and read this authors entire back list. Also, since I did listen to this book on audio, I should probably mention that the narrators for this book did an absolute phenomenal job! P.s. You’ll want to check the trigger warnings on this one! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫(4.5)

enjoyed this so much 🌟

Me encantó. Le doy un 5 por el giro en varias situaciones que no me lo esperaba y eso me gustó mucho, a pesar de que sigue la linea común de los libros anteriores de la autora, tiene como un punto diferente que lo torna un tanto más interesante.

God of Pain is the second book in the Legacy of Gods series and I have to say I am getting completely hooked on this author. I will admit that I was struggling when I first read her, but now I am addicted and I want to explore her backlist. I was highly impressed with God of Pain, after reading the first book in the series, I had to immediately jump into this one here. I also was impressed with how this one was introduced. I adored seeing the heroine going after the hero in the way that she does. Sometimes it can be refreshing, especially in a dark romance, to see the heroine doing the pursuing. But I have to say that this book BROKE me! I never expected this one to be so emotional, so be ready for a tear jerker type of read. I wanted so much for these two to find their way and they have some definite hurdles to overcome. I had such a fun time getting to see some of the parentals and I gotta read those stories as well. I was intrigued to see the books being teased for the series. I am enjoying the world building that is being done with this one. I will say that if you are a dark romance fan, then this series and this author needs to be on your list. I had a blast with this one, and the author did well with the BDSM elements. The hero is super possessive, so be aware of that with this author, as they tend to be more intense alpha males and the heat in these books are much steamier than one may expect. Overall I had a blast with 'God of Pain" and it delivered in every way that was satisfying, endearing and beyond emotionally provoking. You won't want to let go of this folks. A MAFIA GEM!
