Stress exists for a reason: it's a mental state informing us that something is Wrong. And yet we're constantly told this is something we should bury away. When women furiously pedal away on a Peloton to "silence their mind," you begin to ask: Why should we silence our mind? Maybe my mind has legitimate complaints.

“This is why it’s difficult to discuss wellness in generalized, absolute terms. There is good, bad, and a whole lot in between. You cannot fully denounce it, nor can you disregard its growing problems. Often you need to discuss each sector individually, since this industry is ever expanding, encompassing more than a dozen subindustries.” This quote pretty much sums up the entire book. A solid read for the “new year, new me” time. A reminder to take so much of what is marketed to women especially with a grain of salt.
