i truly believe rivers solomon will leave an impactful literary legacy. their writing is incredibly fluent and they are, in my opinion, one of the most creative storytellers published during the past decade.

'sorrowland' is a masterclass of gothic and horror fiction; a very vivid and very innovative story that grips you from start to finish. much like solomon's debut work, 'an unkindness of ghosts', it seamlessly integrates into staples of its genre questions of identity and the structures of racism.

a fascinating read through and through.
