A Shocker on Shock Street is one of my favourite Goosebumps despite the fact that it is implausible and has a ridiculous twist ending. The basic premise is that Erin and Marty are two best friends who love horror films, and lucky for them, Erin's dad is worked in a theme park based on their favourite film franchise! Even better, they get to test the park out! Unsurprisingly, things go horribly wrong, their trolley breaks down, and the kids break one of the most important rules of horror films as they go wandering off on their own. What follows is a disjointed, but terribly fun series of scary things that happen based on different parts of the Shocker films. Everything is ridiculous and would never actually happen in a real par, but it makes for a thrilling read for younger readers. Erin and Marty race through the park, trying to escape, and just as things go as wrong as they could possibly go, it is revealed that Erin and Marty are actually robots designed by Erin's "dad" to test the park! This makes absolutely no sense (the fact that AI is so advanced could be its own horror novel), but whatever. The book wrote itself into a corner, and why not end it with robots? At least this book had some legitimately scary stuff instead of lawn gnomes and turning into a chipmunk.

Not my favourite goosebumps book. I find the the ending is abrupt and doesn’t really fit with the rest of the book, it seems out of place. That being said, this is a book for kids, so maybe I should lower my standards a bit lol
