I guess I'm not really sure where to start with this book. I know that I have rated the first two books 5 stars and I believe I even put them on my favorites shelf but for some reason, this book really lacked something for me. I mean don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed it but it was slower than the other books. 

In this book, Tracy is solving two cases: the cold case of the Native American girl who supposedly committed suicide and a possible battered wife case. I found that I enjoyed reading about the battered wife case a little more than the cold case. It seemed to have more twists and turns and I honestly couldn't figure who did it until I was told. With the cold case, I figured it out just about right away. I just figure out why the perpetrators did it. 

What I did like about this book was we got more of the romance between Dan and Tracy. In the first book, it was pretty palpable but it didn't take over the story. In the second book, it was there but just not a lot. You knew they were dating but it didn't go into much detail about their relationship. Dan helped Tracy figured out a case and that was about it. In this book, the romance is back. Dan is so good for Tracy. He understands that Tracy leads such a crazy life being a homicide detective. He also helps Tracy open up. She used to be so closed off and wouldn't talk to anybody about her feelings. Now she is opening up more and more. I love that. 

I am pretty proud of myself that I figured out (partially) one of the mysteries in this book. Although it wasn't hard. The book practically spoon fed it to you. It was cool, though, that the author went back into the past. That was much more fun to read than Tracy just telling us what happened from the files she has. It was a clever trick that kept me involved in the story. 

I hope that the next book has a little more action in it. I don't need to be having a heart attack every two seconds while reading but I would like a little heart pounding now and then. There was a reason I fell in love with the first book. The amount of action and twistiness had me hooked right away. I would still recommend this book, however, because it's not a bad book.

I love it. I wasn't so invested in the mom/son and dad story line but I love the kimi story line. Can't wait to read the next in the series.

Another great instalment in this crime/police procedural series. I think this one was less suspenseful than the first and second one, it was more a tragic story. That being said, I still enjoyed it a lot and I loved that it really delved into the forensics in detail and of course I still really like Tracy as a main character. Again, I can’t wait to dive into the next book in this series. I highly recommend it!
