Best of the series so far. Binge read the last half and had a book hangover for days. The next installment can’t come soon enough!

Loved it, but it was a MONSTER of a book! IT took me ages since I don't have much time to read physical books. As usual I didn't care much about the actual mystery, I just wanted to follow the evolution of the characters and see how they solved it. The how here is always more important than the who did it. It was extremely satisfying except for (view spoiler)[ Robin being attacked once again (hide spoiler)], can they do something a little different? Can't wait for the next one, and I might watch the series.

This isn't my favorite of the Cormoran Strike novels, mostly because there's so much conflict between Strike and Robin. The best parts of these books are the interchanges between the two, and they're less frequent and more fraught in this book. Robin is still my favorite character, even though she's constantly underestimating herself. I do appreciate that she's not some overconfident, twee, clever girl. She's a realistic, strong, smart, damaged, self-doubting woman. She's been through some sh*t and is figuring it all out. Lethal White is a good mystery with some really unsavory characters with complicated lives and motives. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

I read Cormoran Strike's novels because I enjoy the banter between him and Robin, that's it. The crimes are always very complex but with predictable outcomes. I felt like giving up most of the time.

** spoiler alert ** As always the author has written a great mystery novel. Unfortunately I found the book way to long with its about 640 pafes. Nothing really happened during the first 300 pages but luckily it got a lot more interesting after that.

4 stars | even though these books are mysteries, I’m always more invested in the relationship between Robin and Strike than whatever case they’re working on. The next book cannot come out soon enough.

4.5 — Absolutely loved this one too! Even though Career of Evil is still my favorite so far, I was greatly surprised by the complexity of Lethal White and its balance between personal and professional events in the lives of the characters, and how it manages to incorporate political, social and family themes in it. I can't wait for the 5th book, which is coming out in just a few days!

Another solid, well-written instalment in the Cormoran Strike series, loved Cormoran and Robbie; and finally, Matthew is out of the picture, and I do hope that he is going to be gone too...

J.K. Rowling is a master storyteller. Lethal White is a 600+ page book that I completed within three days. Absorbing, intense and deliciously complex.

An excellent murder mystery without the horrific (grotesque and sensationalized) deaths of the previous two. I almost didn’t read this, remembering the SoC details in the abandoned house, but am glad I did. As in her previous Galbraith novels, the author gets well inside the heads of Cormorán Strike and Robin Ellacott, now picking up one year into Robin’s rocky marriage to Matthew.

JK Rowling really is a very good story-teller. We carry on with Robin and Strike - I like how Robin is increasingly getting a larger role in the series and hope she'll write a follow on series with her name prominent. My only gripe was that it was a little overly long. Could have done with editing about 20% out.

there's hardly a hope for a small mind like mine to keep track of all the clues in this book. but it sure feels nice to be in the hands of jkr again-- is there anybody better at creating so many memorable characters all intermingling in a crazy world?

Damn. And I thought the last book in this series was good but this one was just as strong and had me gripped. Cormorant Strike is a grumpy detective who I just genuinely enjoy reading about. He's smart and capable but he has flaws and I love how he feels fully fleshed and real and I can enjoy reading his deductions and mistakes in a case. And Robin? She makes bad choices. She stays with a man who is definitely not good enough for her. She is struggling to cope with PTSD in the aftermath of the events of the last book. She is a woman who is struggling in a job many close to her don't support her in. She is not perfect and I adore her for it. She made choices I think many of us can relate to and even when she was annoying me because she was ignoring the bleeding obvious or doing things I didn't agree with I still liked her because I understood why. The mystery in this book was strong. I honestly did not guess any of what happened and I love being surprised by a good ending. I was continually thrown of the scent of who done what and I always love that thrill of finding out the answers and being genuinely surprised by them. Not all mysteries do that too often going for the obvious twist but not this one. Genuinely enjoyed this and cannot wait to see where Robin and Cormoran go next. I love this mystery series.

** spoiler alert ** SO SO SO SO SO SO GOOD I adored this story, I am all for the investigations and mysteries and twists. Whenever I put it down, I would keep thinking about it. It feels very real, meaning it shows many details that give you the impression they are all alive. London is depicted perfectly, it really feels like the city. There are many mentions of stuff common to London that is not just the staple, for example how developers keep buying buildings or the ever-present scaffolding. You know, those small things you start noticing only after living in the city for a long time. The romance is very slow-burn. I usually don’t like excessive pining, but here it is so well done. I also HATE Matthew, he is such a piece of shit and I hope he is run over by a car for the way he treats Robin. It was impossible for me to pierce the solution of the mystery all together. I sensed Kinvara and Raphael were having an affair, and he was the one upstairs the last time they went to the Chiswell House, but I didn’t know it was her in the bathroom at Drummond’s or that he actually disliked her. I had a feeling he was the bad one, he felt somehow guilty to me. But it was just a gut feeling and I was nonetheless surprised of the ending, which was crazy tense.

Yuck, what happened Rowling? Did you have ghost writers and then decide to write this one yourself? This is a call back to Casual Vacancy, in that it has too many characters with rich people problems that never seem to mean much but somehow control the plot. Things I did not like, listed: unfair treatment of horse people, too much focus on Cormoran x Robin and Robin x Matthew, relationship issues that don't necessarily make sense, the multiple and not intertwining "mysteries" that left me confused, and last but not least- a too long novel that doesn't do enough to make you want to finish it. As you can see, the list is long. Or it feels long. It might be because I had high hopes, and then I found out horses were involve and I was even more interested. Unfortunately, Rowling doesn't seem to like horse owners and depicts them in a terrible light. I also don't like how the mystery not only took a weird second seat to the romance, but it was unfulfilling in the end. For one of the threads, the end was a total out of the blue moment, which I don't like to read. I got the audiobook from the library, and might get the next to see what RobinxCormoran does (if you haven't read it, this shouldn't be a spoiler as it is simply a vague reference to the general relationship and implies nothing). I won't be buying any more of these, though. J.D. Robb has better romance oriented police procedural type novels.

I don't know if it's because I know, but it feels like it was written by a lady. Nothing wrong with that! Enjoyed the story, nice to be with favourite characters again

good story, although it took me ages to finish since the book felt completely different to the first 3 novels. loved the 2nd half better than the first, but there was something missing for a 5 star read, so only 4 from me bc of a brilliant storyline full review on my blog, hopefully soon :)
