After the disappointing entry of #5, the series returns to the fertile ground of Halloween. It's Halloween night and your friend Jeff has disappeared mysteriously. This author hits every Halloween cliche out there in this book. Werewolves, witches, vampire tribes, spooky hermits, ghosts, monster kids, and whatever alien creature that is on the cover- they're all here and it is an awesome nostalgia trip. Lots of stuff is happening in this book, but the events progress nicely and are fairly involving. This was the only book in the series written by Robert Hirschfield, whom I can find no information on. Shame, as he did a nice job on this story. Not many of these books hold up too well as an adult, but Attack of the Living Mask marks a very high point in this series.
