Left me speechless. Sometimes, cheating is okay...

So many reviews I read are negative but in my opinion, they're just pessimistic losers who don't want to be loved or see other people be loved. This was a great story. Their love was astronomical and it might not be socially acceptable but who caresssss, it's fiction!

This is a guilty pleasure. I think if I had read this book two years ago, I wouldn't have liked it, but I've been mushified. It's a quick read, a matter of a few hours at most. It's more than just a sappy love story. It's a story of love that changes you, a story of devotion to family, and a story of dreams realized and lost. It's about the choices a person must make to craft his or her own life and become the person he or she wants to be. That's a lot to fit into such a short, simple story.

           Klişe gibi görülebilecek bir aşk hikayesini kurgusu ve gerilimi-heyecanı koruması açısından sevdim aslında. Okurken aklınızda devamlı dönem sorulardan bir tanesi de “acaba gerçek bir hikayenin uyarlaması mı”. O kadar gerçekçi ve ayrıntılara dikkat edilmiş zira. Aşk hikayesiyle birlikte kişisel mutluluk ve sorumluluk hissi ikilemi devreye giriyor pek tabii ahlak da. Yalnız bu ikilemlerin süre bazında değişmesi ve dört günlük bir hikayeyi kutsallaştırıp ömrün kalanına yas ve mutsuzluk yüklemeyi yüceltmek biraz fazla klişe geldi. Yanlış hayat eşleşmesinin dışına çıkmak ve mutlu olmayı, geride bıraktıklarına da iyileşme şansı vermeyi seçmek bu kadar imkansız olmamalı.

So...it seems to me like there aren't a lot of people who love this book. And I gave it two stars, so I didn't love it either. But I think a great deal of the criticism, at least that I've read, is unfounded. 

I think the reason people like this book is not because it's particularly well-written, but because a lot of people have felt this way, or wished they felt this way, and the feeling of that intense love is captured very tragically in this book. Who hasn't felt like a lover misunderstands them, or felt like their love was the first or the most magical? 

The complaint I read most was that the author can't write. But I don't think this book is only about the quality of writing. And I think if you look at a lot of fiction, we don't love the books necessarily because they're masterpieces but because they remind us of something, or make us feel something. What's the harm in that?

So, I gave this book 2 stars, because I agree it isn't that great a piece of writing, but I respect the emotions behind the book, and of the readers.

The Bridges of Madison County is a book that follows Francesca who isn’t really happy in her marriage. When a photographer comes to town to take photos of the covered bridges, she begins a short affair with him. The whole time I was listening to this book, I kept thinking maybe she should just talk to her husband about the things she doesn’t like but he didn’t really seem to matter at all to anyone. Since this book is less than 200 pages, there was little to no development in the relationship so it just felt, fake. Not a fan.

This book will make your life better, even if only for a moment. This is so refreshing and beautiful. It isn't caught up in trying to be poetic, it just is poetic naturally. There is no force here either to make this story grand and exciting, because the romance and the emotion does that all by itself. 
This book has been my outlet when I need to relax and feel better about this world. I am ashamed I let it sit unread on my bookshelf for so long. Please read this.
