Carrie's War

Carrie's War

This adaptation of Nina Bawden's classic children's novel tells the story of Carrie Willow, evacuated with her little brother Nick to rural Wales at the start of World War Two. Carrie and Nick are taken in by Councillor Evans and his timid younger sister, Lou - and encounter Evans' estrangedolder sister, Mrs Gotobed. At first Carrie just runs errands between the two households - but one day finds herself forced to choose between them. The activity section at the back of the book covers key themes of the play, and also includes detailed background information on the Second World War and the experience of evacuees.
