I set my expectations low for this book after the disaster that was "Secrets". 

Mrs. Gunn successfully met those low expectations which results in a "meh" 3 star average from me. On the plus side, the actions of the three main characters Christy, Todd and Katie (all characters from her successful young adult series which I adored as a high schooler) seem to fit what could be expected of Christian college students travelling around Europe. While Christy comes off as a bit whiny at times, always wondering whether Todd really likes her, it does seem like something a girl of that age would ponder.

Mrs. Gunn manages to avoid preaching, for the most part, and deus ex machina plot twists. If only travel in Europe was as easy (and cheap) as it was when the book was first published, 2000.

This book survives the great book purge of 2013 solely because it is average and thus a good intermediary level book for the aspiring bookworm, a stepping stone, so to speak.
