Fourteen-year-old Hazel Wong has been called home to Hong Kong from her English boarding school, Deepdean, for her beloved grandfather's death. Her best friend and president of their detective agency, the Honorable Daisy Wells, gets a last minute invitation to join her. When they arrive, expecting funeral arrangements and mourning with Hazel's family, which includes her mother and father, her father's second wife and their two little girls who are Hazel's half-siblings, they are stunned by the surprise waiting for Hazel. She has a new little brother, the son of her father's second wife, and the baby boy is now the pride and joy of her father, usurping Hazel's role in the family as her father's favorite child and heir. 

In a bewildering, upsetting whirl of change Hazel loses her special status room near her parents so that baby Teddy can have it, and Teddy also inherits Hazel's beloved maid to care for him. Hazel's painfully diminished status in the family is just starting to sink in when a sudden kidnapping and murder throws Hazel's family into horrified chaos. I am running out of things to say about this series as it’s just so good. I liked the setting in Hong Kong and how Hazel was more at ease here while Daisy was the foreign one.Hazel’s family dynamics were really interesting too.

The mystery was very gripping and with very high stakes and kept me hooked the whole time.

I just love this series so much and I have to forcibly pace myself as I would read all the books front to back too quickly.

Loved this one — possibly my second favourite after First Class Murder. I loved how Stevens' has subtly changed the way she's writing Wells & Wongs as they grow older. Spunky, feminist, and very intriguing, this one is a thrilling & most enjoyable read!
