Do you enjoy highly dysfunctional families with way too many secrets? The Perfect Family is for you! You’ll follow an incredibly superficial family of four as they try to figure out who’s shitty behavior has caused someone(s) to seek out vengeance upon them. Really though, this family is a lot. None of the characters are terribly likable. Though I guess this would be an entirely different story otherwise.

The best thing about this story is that it’s a fast, fun read. My only issue was with the ending and how it just kind of left a lot dangling. This seems like a one off book and the lack of proper resolution gives my brain a proper aching.
That being said, I really did enjoy about 95% of this story and the last 5% didn’t completely ruin the story. It was just mostly kind of predictable and meh. So it’s 3 stars from me. The story is engrossing and you’ll fly through it, but the end is lacking in proper resolution. This would be a fun summer/beach read.

Thanks so much to NetGalley, Gallery Books, and Robyn Harding for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Perfect Family that is not that perfect!

Thomas and Viv Adler and their children Eli and Tarryn are the envy of their neighbors: they are attractive, successful, have wonderful manners, and have a well-kept home.

Until one day, when they awoke to find the porch covered in eggs. Thomas is sure that it is a joke committed by a few unsupervised children. However, a smoke bomb in the front paddle and the car's cutting tires are beginning to worry the family. Cameras that monitor only display hazy photos of weird people in hoods. And the police deny the attacks, claiming that they are the work of bored teenagers. When the attacks turn violent, the Adlers feel helpless since they are unable to identify the perpetrators. And each new violation raises the bar. Because everyone in the Adler family is hiding a secret, not only from the outside world but also from each other. And secrets can be highly dangerous...

This twisted and interesting story about a family's perfect facade will keep you turning pages until the explosive end.

I enjoy the way this is written and every chapter reveals the little pieces of their secrets that leave you intrigued and want more. With every fresh insight into their life, the anticipation of finding out why everything happens to them is growing. I found it especially unique to find out who the tormentor was. I did not love the finish of it, but an excellent read, altogether.

I really want to see what Robyn Hading will write next!

Thank you, NetGallery for the opportunity to read and review this book. Thank you to Robyn Harding for this amazing book.

In The Perfect Family—which has received starred reviews from both Publishers Weekly and Booklist—#1 bestselling author Robyn Harding explores what happens when a seemingly perfect family is pushed to the edge...and beyond. Thomas and Viv Adler have a picture-perfect family. Affluent and attractive, with two well-mannered kids almost out of the nest, they live in a beautifully restored Craftsman house in a well-to-do neighborhood in Portland, Oregon. Their jobs are secure; their children are thriving; the world is their oyster. Until one morning, when they wake up to find that their house and car have been pelted with eggs. Thomas dismisses it as the work of a few out-of-control kids, but when a smoke bomb is tossed on their front lawn, and the tires on their BMW are punctured, he begins to worry. The family installs surveillance cameras but they show nothing but grainy images of shadowy figures in hoodies. Unable to identify the perpetrators, they are helpless as the assaults escalate. The police assure them that this is just the work of bored teenagers. But no one in the Adler family believes it. After all, each of them has a secret—kept not only from the outside world but from each other. Seventeen-year-old Tarryn is dabbling in a seedy online world; her older brother, Eli, has dropped out of college and refuses to tell his parents why; and Thomas and Viv have their own secrets that began as harmless fun and relief from the pressures of everyday life, but have grown into something darker and more dangerous. As the Adlers grapple with their guilt, fear, and shame, the assaults grow deadly. Their “perfect” façade is crumbling, and it may be too late for any of them to do anything about it in this addictive and twisty suspense novel that will keep you turning pages until its explosive ending.
