The Roomate

Rosie Danan2021
Clara Wheaton is suffering the plight of the average millennial woman. She's overeducated, underemployed, and single. When her childhood crush invites her to move into his spare bedroom, the offer sounds irresistible but unfortunately, it's too good to be true. After a bait-and-switch, Clara finds herself sharing a lease with charming, handsome stranger Josh. He seems to perfect for her liking, until she googles him, and the internet reveals his profession. Will living with him turn into a scandal? Or will pooling their resources help them - and others - get lucky for a change.

Thank god it’s over. It wasn’t terrible I just wasn’t interested in it at all Never again am I a. Not doing any research on what the book is about before I read it.. I always do my research (Andrea doesn’t so I thought why not read a book on a whim, it wasn’t worth it) b. Take recommendations of book tok, these tik tokers are crazy with their books recs. I do get recs from tik tok but Damn people loved this book? WHY? GIRL MOVES IN WITH A PORN STAR WHAT EVEN IS THAT, I only continued bc I hate leaving books unfinished, but I will be honest, I read like one sentence per page for the last 50 pages, I was just skimming to see if I should read any important parts that pertained to the plot Anyway

I LOVED THIS BOOK OMG, it was so great, not only the spicy scenes, but the way it sheds light on what sex workers go through on the daily that can really put them in harms path, and what they deal with on the family side. It was so well thought out, their bickering scenes I couldn't get enough of. Rosie Danan did such a great job at making the characters be polar opposites of one another, yet also made them perfect for each other. Such a good read.

Realistically should I have been shocked at the amount they talked about sex in this book? No, I shouldn’t have been. Reading the description should have been enough. I’m kind of impartial to this book, I didn’t love the amount of sex in this book but that’s mostly on me. I feel like Clara was a little bit dry in this book and I didn’t particularly like her that much which probably ruined it for me in a way.

I had such a great time josh and Clara are amazing together. So much tension, the attraction was crazy, so much fun I just wish it was a little…funnier? Fun? I’m not sure but I think this set up had all the great makings of emphasizing the Com in Rom-com. They had some great moments tho!! So cute I’d totally read the next one!

This is the first book that I read for over 2 months, there's no specific reason though. I think the story was unique and compelling but the way it was written made me feel like I was reading an english textbook? Still it was a good read and unpredictable at times.

I did not realize how much smut this books would really have, but it works I love it! I was afraid it would be too cliché for me with the whole roommate trope, yet it wasn't. It's not a enemies to lovers, but roommates to friends to lovers. Which I think is refreshing it's not a slow burn trust me there is action. hehehe. I like the growth of the MC too because I feel like it's mostly about her growth within herself. Some may say it's a women empowerment book because it does have a lot of women supporting women in their careers.

Okay, I think maybe it’s because I’m entering a slump?? But this book bored me 100 pages in ✋ If I find something to get me out of my slump, maybe I’ll be back to read this book.

Such a cute, easy read. Some spicy scenes but overall just a perfect feel-good book to read in a day or two.

This book was meh. I literally have nothing to say about it. Their relationship was cute and I liked the plot but there was something missing.

Clara’s shy smile made him want to grab the straps of those ridiculous overalls, yank her mouth to his, and finally taste those strawberry lips he’d been dreaming about since she first walked into his life. “We should probably head back.” He needed doors between them, ones he could lock. “Oh. Sure.” Clara brushed off her butt and Josh tried not to notice the way her hands glided down the generous swell. Fuck. If he wasn’t careful, he was going to end up with a crush on his roommate.

“How do you eat so much junk food and stay so . . .” Mouthwatering, her brain supplied unhelpfully. “Trim.” He raised a single shoulder. “I fuck a lot?”

His careless words sent her straight back to high school. How many times after his social standing skyrocketed in tenth grade had Everett canceled plans with her in favor of band practice? How many times since then had he looked over her shoulder instead of into her eyes when she tried to talk to him?

Most people will do anything to avoid change". Naomi brushed her flame-colored hair over her shoulder. "Even the ones who try often revert back to old habits as soon as life gets hard. Remember that before you go doing something crazy. Sometimes we think we want something until it's time to live with the consequences."
