This is the fourth book in the Royal Spyness series and although I'd enjoyed the previous installments quite a lot this one was a huge disappointment. I still like the characters in the series but the plot was paper thin and there was little character development. When I read that Georgiana was to travel to Transylvania I thought about vampires but couldn't imagine that Rhys Bowen would involve them in the story... Well she did, which was really the last straw for me. The fifth book in this series was published recently but I don't think I'll give it a try.

I loved that this one had a change in location! I did not like that Fish-Face was still in the picture. Nevertheless, I always find it amusing when various characters show up even though there is really no reason for them to be part of this particular plot line other than the fact that they have already been established as main characters in previous books. The ending was simultaneously interesting and boring - sometimes I feel that the plot twists aren't quite twisty enough, or just aren't executed properly. Still, as ever, I do enjoy these little novels.
