The Reaper

: Dear Morana, whatever you just told Tristan, kindly don’t again. He is just itching to go punch my father in the face and that would be very inconvenient for our plans. I don’t want to get in between whatever you two have going on but please don’t egg him on right now. I need him focused. Thank you. Dante.

Morana stared at the image of his card, his name, and details clearly visible to her.

Dante turned to look at her as well. He raised the hand not holding the cigarette in greeting to her.

“I don’t share.”                                 “Neither do I.”

Fuck yes, he was hers. For however long, damaged and asshole-d, and however he was, he was hers.

“No need,” Tristan Caine spoke for the first time in a while. “She stays with me.”

Yet, he had gotten on a knee and placed his hands directly on her skin without once raising the hem of her skirt from the floor.

Once done speaking, Dante remained standing exactly where he was beside her, surprising her yet again. The stance wasn’t lost on her and it certainly wasn’t lost on Maroni.

And then he shook his head at Morana, just once, dispelling whatever doubts had started to creep in.

His presence, hell the mere knowledge of his existence, gave her more comfort than anything in her life had.

“I will tell you this - I don’t want to fix him. I want to fix 

. And he’s the only thing that seems to be working.”

And then he did the craziest thing. He took her hand and helped her up the first set of stairs.

“You want to go to Tenebrae?” he asked softly, his whiskey voice deceptively quiet.

And yet, now she’d had a panic attack, and this man, of all people, had given her chocolate.

She knew she wasn’t this needy person. She never needed anybody

Slowly, eventually, she became aware of everything.

The blackness withdrew, leaving behind…

She didn’t want to be responsible for these people. She didn’t want to be responsible for anyone. For the first time in her life, she wanted to be utterly selfish. She wanted to be reckless. She wanted to get on the back of that bike and throw her hands to the wind.

Really enjoyed Tristan and Morana’s development and I’ve also grown to adore Dante. I just know I would love him in his book.

this was less enemies/high tension than the previous book but i got to see more of the slay that is dante (my man) and we got cool new characters (zia and vin).

i think the new plot points were interesting and the development of morana’s relationship with both brothers truly was heartwarming.

Umm, that’s it? It really built something up to not really give me anything. I won’t lie that it took me a minute to remember all that happened and once I did I didn’t truly get hooked until chapter 5. It is a unique have an ongoing plot throughout interconnected stories interwebbed. Like in most books there’s small things that can be seen through the series but not the main plot line of the book. I see why it was split into two books but everything that felt important didn’t feel like it needed two books, it’s a weird feeling I have after reading both. What was here was good, just felt like it built it up for something big and it feel anticlimactic by the end.

Morana is actually the loml. I absolutely adore her. my girl is so UNDERSTANDING!! I'm in love with her fr. Tristan is just a traumatized teddy bear with blue eyes :( I love them so much.

the plot is getting so interesting. I'm so excited to read the next books! (I believe we won't have Morana and Tristan back right? that's so sad)

Starting out 2021 in the best way possible. 

This freaking book. Oh my God, I’m addicted. 

I am absolutely obsessed with this book. I truly love Tristian and Morana. At first, I wasn't 100% sold on Tristian, he’s an acquired taste. But this man pushed his way into my heart and now I’m obsessed, Morana is such a strong willed woman who doesn't bow down to anyone. They are complete opposites but yet, they are so similar in many ways, especially the feelings that they have for each other. The passion and love is so strong and undeniable it just radiates off the pages. The chemistry and heat between these two literally made me blush, I seriously feel like a giddy school girl. This is another book I will be adding to my bookshelf. This book was off the charts good! It was such a great way to start off my 2021 with and I can't wait to read so much more. THANK GOODNESS I am lucky enough to have been gifted an ARC of The Emperor book three in the Dark Verse, because I’m diving right in.

Well a lot happened in this book, like Tristan breaking down the morana finding out her dad isn't her actual dad and he died aswel as maroni and Dante took over so yh. It was a lot.

           Giving this book 5 stars isn’t enough I need this book to be injected in my veins 😭 I ADORE THIS BOOK..IT WAS PERFECT.. I loved Tristan and Morana’s character and relationship development and the way they helped each other through everything.. It had the best hurt/ comfort scenes and was absolutely heartbreaking in the best way possible.. The plot and twists really picked up in this book and literally had me so anxious. I’m absolutely obsessed with this series now and can’t wait for Dante’s book..I love him so much already!!
This book definitely humanized Tristan Caine and showed his trauma and his emotions more, which was absolutely heartbreaking but I loved seeing him open up to Morana.. and the way he knew how to be there for her during her panic attacks or whenever she needed him..

 “Never again,” he whispered.“They will die a thousand deaths before they ever touch a single hair on your head again. I promise.” his lips wrote against her skin.
“You made me a promise last night in the dark, I’m making you one now. Never again. You’ll never be alone again. No matter how bad the nightmare gets, I’m going to be right here.”

 And the way Morana was understanding of his trauma and how difficult it was for him to communicate and open up was everything.. The most heartbreaking but wholesome moments were when she comforted him after his nightmares or when he broke down😭😭She is a badass and definitely one of my favorite fmcs.. 
  

   “She had found something immensely precious in their world, a diamond in the coals, a lotus in the mud. And she vowed to cherish it, cherish him, as he deserved. He needed time to open up, to trust her not to abandon him someday, and she would give that to him. He had earned that.”

“He loved her, and he would probably never be able to tell her so.
And she was surprisingly okay with that.
She’d rather he look at her the way he did for the rest of their lives. She’d rather he cook for her the way he did every morning. She’d rather he hold her neck like he did when she was old and grey.
He had given her a home, somewhere she belonged, just as she was. Be it his penthouse or the cottage or this hotel room, he was her anchor. She was never going to be alone again.” 

 Now if all this hadn’t already made the book 5 ⭐️ the epilogue from TRISTAN’s POV would’ve sealed the deal..

I like the characters a lot in these, but I will not continue the series because I absolutely cannot get over the repetitiveness of certain phrases. I hated the phrases themselves because I don’t understand why the author felt the need to remind us that Tristan’s voice sounds like “sin and whiskey” EVERY TIME HE TALKS. Otherwise Dante was my favorite and I feel he was underused in this

Thank god for more dialogue this round, I was going to explode from all the staring and sexual tension. Loved this book and all the characters! I do feel like the ending was rushed, there were a lot of loose ends which I’m hoping will tie up later on in the series. Dante is still MVP of the series, I need more of him!
