How it made me feel: I loved the coming of age, sister road trip feel combined with the mystery of finding their mother. The sisters ended up in completely different places in life after their mother disappeared, with one sister being old enough to live on her own and the other being in a loving foster home with parents that wanted to adopt her. The emotional damage both of the girls endured was so done so well. The sisters coming back together was way more interesting than finding their mother (for me, anyway).

I was really hoping for more from the ending... It felt anticlimactic and I was left wanting more answers.

Would I recommend? Yes, tentatively :)

            The story here was intriguing.  Truly.  However, when I finished, I had more questions than I had at the beginning.  This book is the literary equivalent of a video the news shows with faces, names, and location specifics blurred out.  Sure, we got the general idea, but it would have been more complete without all the blurring. 

            There you go, that’s what I have to say about this book.

Wilder Women was absolutely captivating! Lang created a story line that was full of magic and creativity. This story follows two sisters who have been estranged for some time but come together to find their mother who is missing. You do not want to pass this book up.
Zadie and Finn captured my heart as they slowly rebuilt their relationship, this story had twist and turns I never seen coming. This story shows you that love can be preserved through time and distance and what the strength of family can do.
This novel was beautifully written and is a must read for those who love women’s fiction mixed with a little bit of magic.

Sister stories always draw me, maybe because I have a close sister of my own. This book was no different. Zadie and Finn’s relationship felt so authentic and real. They have unresolved issues but a deep love for each other. Their mother left them but they’ve always kept in touch. 

After Finn’s graduation they go on a journey to use their special abilities (Finn can see the echo’s of other people’s memories and Zadie has cryptic premonitions) and try and solve the mystery of why their mother left. 

The following road trip is a love letter to sisters and family and being just a bit different. The characters they meet along the way are so interesting and the road trip never feels like it drags. We get pieces of the sisters backstory and our propelled by the clues Finn and Zadie find, the people they meet and they mystery of what happened to Nora Wilder. 

My favorite part of this book was the fact that I spent the whole book guessing and trying to figure out what happened to Nora and was desperate for the answer. It was a rewarding journey that had me turning pages as quickly as I could and hoping against all hope that Finn and Zadie would have some closure.
