           So my friend warned me about this book and I decided to read it anyway. It's... not good. Not only does it seem so out of touch with high school, there doesn't really seem to be any real motivations behind the main characters actions. Why couldn't she have just taken money out of peoples purses instead of drugs? 

On top of that it seems like there are paragraphs thrown in to make it seem like the main character is smarter than she acts, but they just... fall flat. They're also vapid and surface level. Also the sad attempt at "I'm not like other girls" that got squashed immediately. The writing was all over the place, and seemed to be an attempt at connecting with high schoolers, but, and I hate to use this word, it just came across as cringey and trying way too hard. 

Admittedly, I am writing this review a few months after I read the book, but I remember not being able to find anything the main character did smart, relatable, or even pitiable. There is a lot I could have said about this if I had reviewed it earlier but, I'll just have to say don't waste your time reading this book.

Thyme Gilchrest is an honors student. Thyme Gilchrest is popular. Thyme Gilchrest is on student council. Thyme Gilchrest is a drug dealer. Like piecing together a logic puzzle, Thyme has organized a complex trading system that enables her to obtain the meds her friends need. They all come to her to diagnose their problems and provide the "cure" -- be it Prozac, Ritalin, Vicodin...She's therapist, doctor, and pharmacist all in one. She helps people. And that makes her feel a little more in control -- a little more capable of dealing with her own frantic high school life. Because Thyme Gilchrest is nothing if not good at dealing.
