A charming story of coming of age and coming out. I wish I had a grandparent like Arthur. That being said, Teddy is the most oblivious person and the romance between him & Ben (and Shak) was simply not believable. I didn't for one second think he was actually attracted to either of them.

"arthur and teddy are coming out" is such a wonderful and heartfelt story about a grandfather and his grandson who have a very big secret in common. when arthur decides to come out at 79, they both have to deal with the aftermath of his revelation in different ways, and it sets off a series of events chronicled through both of their POVs. i absolutely loved this book and found it so touching, sincere, and hopeful, and it's safe to say i was on the verge of tears toward the end. arthur and teddy's story does have its fair share of struggles and it's not an easy road, but while a lot of the characters were deeply flawed, their redemption arcs pay off in the end. my only real issue with the book was pacing—the beginning of the book felt very slow paced compared to the last third of the book, where so much happened in very quick succession, with a lot of time jumps in between. this did make me feel like ben's redemption came a tad too early and teddy forgive him too easily, but it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the book. "arthur and teddy are coming out" is out from harper collins on february 27th! thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the advanced copy of this book.

I’m confused by this book. On one hand, it ended in the exact way I wanted to & was heartwarming & beautiful. On the other hand, I felt like there was simply too much going on. So many tiny plot points were added, not all of which came to fruition.

The pace was a bit choppy, with things seemingly happening out of the blue or things being referred to without a full explanation.

Overall, I did enjoy this book. The few small gripes I had with it didn’t stop me from enjoying the read overall, especially Arthur & his story. The idea of a grandparent & grandson grappling with their sexuality together is compelling, but Arthur’s segment of this book was done much better than Teddy’s.

It left something to be desired at parts, but the last quarter of this book had me dying to know what would happen!

Arthur and Teddy Are Coming Out is an uplifting novel telling the story of a man and his grandfather coming out as gay.

What I liked most about the book was that the characters were well fleshed out and the relationships were believable: the friendship between Teddy and Shakeel and of course the relationship between Teddy and Arthur as the duality of their coming out stories unfolds.

With a good mix of heartwarming moments and twists along the way, I think this would be a great pick for any fans of Heartstopper of those looking for a gratifying LGBT read. Looking forward to Book No.2!
