The deadly case of the missing porcelains: a whodunnit set in NYC’s Chinatown. Our hero is a small but mighty young woman of Chinese descent whose mother and brothers hate the fact that she is a self-employed private detective and not married with children. Oh the shame! And this assignment is in many ways all about “saving face.” She has a sometimes-partner who is in love with her but he is not Chinese so, as far as her mother is concerned, it’s a no-go. But they clearly have chemistry. The repartee is fun and keeps things light while they solve the case without getting themselves killed. I plan to read more in the series.
