He's giving me Big Bad Wolf vibes. Only instead of running, I'm blushing. And he looks like he might just want to eat me whole.

Book Two of the Darling Series

If someone could take the outline of this book, and give it to someone new with more writing skill….This was okay. About what you would expect - cringey, cheesy, and clunky writing. This is just a guilty pleasure read, so don’t expect much.

Ik kan wel een schouder gebruiken om op te leunen. Iemand om leuke dingen mee te doen. Iemand voor een knuffel. En ik heb al helemaal geen zin om in mijn eentje naar de trouwerij van mijn beste vriendin te gaan. Wat doe je in mijn situatie? Je schrijft je in bij een dating app en accepteert de eerste de beste uitnodiging… Daar zit je dan, in een bar. In je eentje. Alleen is het niet mijn date die aanschuift aan mijn tafeltje. Het is zijn vader. En mijn hemel, is deze man nou niet hét voorbeeld van sexy. Hij is breed, heeft indringende blauwe ogen en prachtige tattoos van zijn vingertoppen tot in zijn nek. Hij geeft me Grote Boze Wolf-vibes, maar in tegenstelling tot Roodkapje, hoop ik juist wel dat deze Wolf me met huid en haar verslindt.

I loved this one a lot more than the first book! I loved the connection between Maddie and Axel. And damn, the possessiveness and protectiveness had me all hot and bothered. 

Can I just say I loved how well Axel's son got along with Maddie? I was expecting the worst, considering Brian was supposed to be the one to show up for the date, but he stood her up, so Axel went instead. I definitely wish I would have gotten more from together, because it was so beautiful and friendly!

If you’ve followed me long enough and have been paying attention, you know I’m a huge Tilly fan. If you haven’t: Hi! I’m Maria, and S.J. Tilly is one of my favorite romance authors. Her books are just so addicting, I breeze through them. This one though…this one was something extra special.

(You can, however, read them as standalones. You’ll obviously know how book 1 ends since the protagonists of the two books are friends, but you don’t need book 1 to understand book 2. That being said, read them both because I said so.) Despite it being a Saturday and TV fam with the family, I spent most of the boring parts and all the commercial breaks reading this book. I regret nothing!

The age gap romance in this one was immaculate. And it’s not a small gap—these two have a 21 year gap. Did it ever feel weird or fetishized? Nope. Not once. It’s a passionate story of two people who fall hard for one another, and where the age difference is hardly the issue. It’s the fact that Maddie was supposed to meet Axel’s son on a date (not a spoiler, it’s in the description), so it might be weird. It’s Maddie’s insecurities that sometimes rear their head. So many little things.

I highly recommend this to romance readers who love smut, a curvy protagonist, a hot as sin male protagonist, glorious dirty talk and to people looking for good age-gap romances!
