3.5 Masters Stars! This was a nice low angst read. Yes, there is a conflict, but the tension caused by that conflict was never rachety high, and the resolution was simple. Perhaps even too simple for some. The hero is a sweet alpha, the heroine is (sometimes) frustrating with her noble idiocy, but hey she has her reason, so I won't be too hard on her. Some parts were too cheesy for my taste, but I still enjoyed reading it. This is my first JF's book and won't be my last. I'll certainly be reading Jockblocked next!

Football Hero Virgin ... Is that an oxymoron? ;) Knox and Ellie's story is a great opener to the Gridiron series. I look forward to reading them all. Jen Frederick has a fan in me.

She knows how to write heroes, the love that pours out of Knox knocks the wind out of me. I hope we get a book for Ty soon

Yes, I read this. From beginning to end *hangs head in shame* This desperately saddening, upsetting, depressing fact should give you a clue as to my current mental state. All I have to say about this delightful story is: so much juvenile cheese, sheer stupidity and pathetically manufactured pathetic drama should be outlawed. Such a severe case of award-winning, unequalled, OTT insta-freaking-lurvitis should be mercilessly, ruthlessly punished. Bye now. P.S. I was going to say that this book was a Stupidly Stupid Piece of Crap (SSPoC™), but I'm afraid the Trolls of Joy and Happiness (ToJH™) would find such a tasteless comment too insulting, aggressive, vicious, and generally offensive, so I won't. Won't what? Say that this book is a SSPoC™, obviously. Because it clearly isn't. A SSPoC™, I mean. *waves gleefully at her Friendly Neighbourhood Trolls (FNT™)*

Check out this and my other reviews at My Blog, Facebook, Google+, Twitter and Pinterest ★Book Basics★ Genre : - Cont NA Romance Series : - 1st in the series Love triangle? - (view spoiler)[No (hide spoiler)] Cheating? - (view spoiler)[No (hide spoiler)] HEA? - (view spoiler)[Yes (hide spoiler)] Would I read more by this author/or in this series? - Yes Rating - 4 stars ★Review★ I have to admit to being fairly new to the whole NA thing. I in the past have tended to avoid them as I find I like my characters older, and I have a view that this genre would be overly angsty and full of llama drama antics. However, the ones I have actually read and can remember anything about, have been, well, heart warmingly sweet. Well, I say that like there is a lot, but really there has been like 2 recently - and for some reason both have had a hero that is a virgin and the heroine being a bit more experienced! Not that I have intentionally gone for that, just the way it has worked out for me. As was the case here. The hero was great. I loved that he was a virgin, yet he was not ashamed of this, or felt the need to lie about it ever. It was what it was for him, and he never made out that it was anything to hide or lie about it. (although it felt a bit unrealistic in all honesty) still I loved this about him. I LOVED the banter and friendship between the hero and his team, and there were some very funny moments when they were all together. The heroine I really liked too. You felt for her, and how she looked out for her brother, even though she was forced into doing more than she wanted thanks to her parents. Which leads me to her parents, and maybe one of the areas of the book I had more of an issue with. They were cartoonishly villainous. And I wanted more of a resolution with them at the end when her father just turned up, made some noise, then seemed to just melt away without so much as a whimper. I am not sure why he even turned up, it added maybe a paragraph of mild drama, that then sort of faded. And the drama that led to them having to break up for a time felt too forced and unbelievable. Also, and I knew this going in, and I am not at all going to downgrade my rating due to this, but there were A LOT of American Football references, and descriptions, that I just did not get. As I say, I knew this going in, but it felt, for me, a bit too much. However, in saying that, I really really loved this story, and if you can come into it, needing something sweet and low on angst, and just sort of skim over the insta lust, it is a hugely enjoyable read. I loved the main characters and there are some secondary characters I would love to see get a book. I will definitely be continuing with the series.

Reread #1 It's been years since I read Sacked, but it definitely holds up. I love a good football romance — particularly when the author very clearly is a football fan and the sport is actually part of the story and not just a convenient character trait for the hero. This is one of the best of the best. As a fan of the game (and kissing books) I find I enjoy this one on all the levels. This book also has some of the HOTTEST scenes I've read in recent memory. ~~~~~~~ Find this review and more at kimberlyfaye reads . As I've been a fan of Jen Frederick's military new adult romance series for awhile now, I'm not at all surprised that I enjoyed this book as much as I did. Not only was the romance sexy and sweet, but the football references were on point. (Did I really just say on point?) I'm not even gonna lie, two things about this book caught my attention immediately: the cover (hello, abs!) and the word "virgin" in the blurb. I didn't have to read any more of the blurb to know Sacked was a must-have. I love a good male virgin book and there aren't nearly enough of them out there in new adult. I liked Knox and his unapologetic attitude immediately. I thought he was a great guy, devoted to his sport and to Ellie once things progressed to that point. He was a hell of a player on the field but a genuinely good guy in real life. I mean, sure he was arrogant at times... but why shouldn't he be? (Side note: I loved that this was a football book NOT about a quarterback or receiver. No offense to the offense (HA!), but I like a little variety. It was nice to read about one of the big, beefy defensive players for a change.) I found Ellie pretty easy to relate to. She was a regular girl. She embraced her sexuality and wasn't "broken." She had some messy things in her life – and her parents were repugnant creatures – but she didn't need someone to fix her. I liked her relationship with her brother. It was complicated by some of the messiness, but I liked that they TALKED (eventually) and worked through things. (Hooray for communication!) There were a couple times I kinda wanted to shake some sense into her, but I could also see why she was making the choices she made. And, despite the small frustrations, I still really liked her character. I loved Knox and Ellie together. They were perfection. They challenged each other and they had oodles of chemistry. There were some seriously SMOKIN' HOT scenes in this book too. (You know how I said I love male virgins? More than that I love male virgins with dirty, dirty mouths. Rawr.) Things moved fairly quickly for these two, but it felt real and right. One of the things you might not know about me is I am a die-hard college football fan. I swear, I bleed gold and blue. (Let's go Mountaineers!) Jen managed to write the thrill of victory and agony of defeat with such honest emotion that I found myself feeling as though I was right back in the middle of some of those amazing victories (and heartbreaking defeats) I've been through with my own team. If you're a fan of sports romance books, this should definitely be on your list. I really hope it's the beginning of a standalone series. The secondary characters in this book were fantastic and I'd love to see several of them get books of their own. (*cough* Jack & Riley *cough*) I also really liked Knox's other teammates (and his twin brother!) so I'd definitely like to see more from all of them. I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Originally posted at Booklovers For Life I seriously love sports romances – if there’s a book about football or hockey, I’m in. Sacked by Jen Frederick is a great read for sports romance fans who like their books sweet and funny. There’s also a little bonus in this book – the hero is a virgin! So rare in books, but also SO MUCH FUN to read about. I really liked Sacked – it’s not quite on the level of sports romances like The Deal or The Hook Up, but I honestly enjoyed what I read. If you were a fan of the previous books I mentioned, you should definitely give Sacked a try. Knox Masters is the star player for the Western State Warriors – he has big plans ahead of him, but for now, he’s set on winning the national championship. He’s a fantastic player on the field, but off the field? Not so much. Knox is a virgin, and planning on staying that way until he meets the girl of his dreams. But when he does meet her, she seems to be the only girl not impressed with who he is. So now he has another goal to accomplish – win the heart of the girl he wants to spend the rest of his life with. “What are you thinking about?” I’m so screwed. He doesn’t hesitate. “You. I’m thinking about you. I’m thinking about laying my tongue on your body for the first time. What you’d taste like. I’d want to lick you everywhere. I want to know what every inch of you tastes like.” Ellie Campbell has just transferred to Western State with her brother, who also plays football for the team. She avoids football players because of a previous bad experience, but she never expected to meet someone like Knox – sweet, charming, funny-as-hell, and oh-so-sexy. Oh, and a virgin. Ellie tries her hardest to stay away from Knox, but he’s determined to win over the girl he knows is meant for him, so how can she resist him? “I’m not experienced, but I know when a girl is into me, and you’re into me. You want to play it casual, then that’s how we play it… for now. But fair warning, I’m bringing everything I’ve got to tear down your resistance. My specialty is reading plays and then overcoming the barriers.” I’m actually a big fan of insta-lust… when it’s done right. I like my heroes being over-the-top in love with the heroines, especially for the majority of the book, and Knox’s heart certainly belongs to Ellie from the get-go. Jen Frederick did a fantastic job writing their romance – Knox falls fast and hard for Ellie, and it was so. much. fun. reading about him trying to woo her and win her heart. Sacked is a bit predictable, but its sweetness, humor, and charm made up for it. Knox and Ellie made the most adorable couple – and they get hot in the sheets too! Knox is definitely an eager virgin, willing to do whatever it takes to please Ellie. ;) I loved getting to know Knox and his teammates, who are absolutely hilarious together. There are lots of great banter in this book, both between Ellie and Knox and Knox and his teammates. This book was just a pure, feel-good romance, with just the right amount of sweetness without making it sappy. I highly recommend it for those who love sweet, funny college romances. “I started my life the day I met you.
