4.5 because I dont think Ruby truly had a happy ending. I mean she did get the life she imagined from the start of the book. But after everything she had endured..I love the Dual POVS! Soon as something gets good in Ruby's story,next chapter its Eleanor & youre like omg wait!😂 Its a book with history that will stay with me forever. Nothing like I've ever read before! When she said their stories collide in the most unexpected ways she's right!! At the start you're wondering when they'll meet then as time goes on they dont until years later and by then its over. Read Fallen Grace as well its a short story about Bubbles!!

Ruby becomes pregnant and her life is suddenly upended. Eleanor, now married, longs for a child. And their lives are about to connect in an unexpected way.

This is such a poignant, heartbreaking, and hopeful story. I loved how it explored racism and the various experiences of Black people in the 1950s.
