I really want to sympathize with Samantha, I really do, but girl needs therapy IMMEDIATELY. It’s so hard for me to like her. She’s insecure, defensive, and plays these mind games with Gabriel. I’m not Team Gabe bc wth was that, dude?! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I hope they both sort themselves out in the second book.

Edit: I forgot to say there are trigger warnings for this book! There are mentions of sexual assault/rape, domestic violence, and murder so please be careful if those are sensitive subjects for you.

This book is not an original story in any way. A girl with a dark(abusive) past is in love with a man with a dark(criminal) present and their damage doesn’t mix so they get in a lot of pointless fights resolved via sex. Nothing new, we have seen it before. That being said it is written well and has a very cohesive story. I noticed some editing issues, specifically words missing. I know that doesn’t take away from the story itself, but for me personally it always takes me out of the fantasy when I stumble across them. Overall it was a definitely worth the read, it was one of the better written versions of this trope.
