I'm not sure if I did like this at times: the scenes of physical and pyschological abuse made me squirm, which I guess was the point! CF Goodnight Mr Tom. I did like the blending of history and fantasy though. An unusual book.

I have read and re-read this book more times than any other book. I absolutely adore the story and I have been reading this book since I was eleven years old. The story is everything a fairy tale should be; magical and wonderful with an inspirational young heroine. I can's give it enough praise
