As always, what a smart twist. (Although, I do find some "kejanggalan" in the plot, but oh well)

Buku ini menceritakan tentang penyelidikan kasus penemuan mayat seorang lelaki di sebuah rumah.
Terjadi karena korban meminum secangkir kopi berisi racun yang ia buat sendiri. Apakah murni bunuh diri? Atau memang dibunuh? Jika memang dibunuh, apa motifnya?

Sebenarnya di awal bab kita sudah diberi clue besar siapa pelakunya. Uniknya disini adalah cara penulis mengecoh kita dengan temuan-temuan yang ada.
Motif ada namun alibi yang sangat kuat membuat kita goyah dan berpikir untuk menebak siapa pelaku sebenarnya.

Yang aku suka di sini adalah karakter detektif Utsumi yang sangat detil memikirkan semua kemungkinan yang ada , meski beberapa ditentang oleh Detektif Kusanagi, karena Detektif Kusanagi sendiri sangat berempati dengan pelaku.
Dengan bantuan Profesor Yukawa—meski sempat kebingungan—akhirnya kepingan-kepingan puzzle pun terpecahkan.

Dibandingkan dengan buku pertama seri Detektif Galileo yaitu Salvation of A Saint, peran Profesor Yukawa pada buku ini memang tidak terlalu dominan. Beliau hanya membantu memecahkan bagaimana racun tersebut dimasukkan.

Overall, sangat suka dengan eksekusi twist yang ada. Endingnya fair, dapat diterima olehku.

I enjoyed this one towards the end more so than the beginning, probably because I watched the jdrama episode of this one. I think the twist at the end of the novel is better than the tv adaptation of it. I would still recommend this one! I think Malice will still be my favourite book :)

Este libro sí que fue una sorpresa. Cuando lo vi en la sección de libros del Carrefour me quedó haciendo ruido la parte de "el maestro japonés de la novela negra" así que me animé y me lo traje a casa.
Con un ritmo paulatino y ameno se va desarrollando esta historia que gira en torno a Ayane, la esposa de Yoshitaka a quien encontraron muerto a causa de un envenenamiento y es ella la principal sospechosa... aunque el problema es que ella estaba a cientos de kilómetros esa noche.
El desarrollo de la investigación me recordó muchísimo a El Misterioso Caso de Styles de Agatha Christie, donde Poirot tiene que descubrir quién envenenó el chocolate.
Y si bien este libro forma parte de una serie donde un profesor de química ayuda en las investigaciones no se nota para nada, es decir, no es necesario leer desde el primer libro. 
Fue un gran descubrimiento y merece la pena intentarlo.
