My Life in the Shadows recounts Sam Alexander's life in the Army and Special Forces - often a dangerous life. In this book he gives a sense of just how all-consuming the Army way of life can be and what resilience and strength of character is needed. Bravery, intelligence and sheer nerve shine out from every page. He spent much time in Northern Ireland but was based in many other places all over the world too, becoming an expert in covert observation and eventually being rewarded with an MBE for his work.
