Ruined by the Writing Style 1.65/5 The plot was interesting. The characters were average, the premise intrigued me, but all of that was ruined by the subpar writing style. I really wanted to like this book. I kept trying to give it a chance to grow on me. I even paused reading it for a day just to see if my experience would be different after sleeping on it. Unfortunately, this book was just not one I liked. I'll try to give some of the other books in this series a chance, but I don't expect to like them either. Here's hoping I'm wrong!
Trident Security was formed by a family full of former SEALS. Within the same compound they also have an elite "Adult" club called " The Covenant". With a "sexy six pack" in residence, all of whom have some kind of fetish or Dom personality, you just know this is going to be a HOT book! Kristen Anders, romance author, newly divorced and sexually unfulfilled has moved to Tampa to be nearer her cousin and get away from her slimy ex. Her recent book took on a BDSM theme and she wants to make sure they are as truthful to the lifestyle as possible and finagles a visit to the club owned by the sexy six pack. Devon AKA Devil Dog lusted after Kristen when he saw her at the pub she frequented and when he finds her at the club he goes into full Dom mode. When he realises that she may just be a superb sub, he gets her to fill out her limits list and salivates at the thought of introducing her to BDSM. As they fall deeper into lust, Devon realises that Kristen is more than just a weekend sub, he wants her permanently. But when a mission from his past comes rushing into his present, he may just lost Kristen before he can tell her how he really feels! I'm a newbie to real BDSM stories and this was a great intro, I felt I was learning right along with Kristen! But whilst the sex scenes are quite detailed, the suspense element was not lacking and the story involving former missions, assassinated SEALS and how this non-blood family copes is thrilling!
I picked up this series based on a trusted Twitter mutual and holy moley I've followed it down the rabbit whole. If you are in the market for some huge ex-Navy SEALs who are called the "Sexy Six-Pack" for many reasons, including that they now own a BDSM club in Florida on top of their private security firm, go forth and one-click. The first book in the series features Devon who helps introduce and falls in love with Kirsten, a romance novelist who decides to try BDSM for real to help her writing. Super hot, I appreciated the consent a lot, and there is a good dog. CW for past assault, violence, guns, physical violence.
