I had it all. I was dating the ideal man, successfully climbing the corporate ladder, and on my way to living the perfect dream. My future was etched in stone. But then my mother died, and suddenly my life seemed desperately shallow. So I bought a one-way ticket to France and left behind everything and everyone I had ever known.
