She smiles big, lighting up her whole face, and if I wasn’t sitting down, it would have knocked me on my ass. She really is beautiful.

“They’re both twunts who aren’t worthy of you. And I know it hurts now. But it won’t soon.”

Her eyes close. “Promise?” she whispers.

And something in my chest splinters. I rub my hand against my chest, trying to erase the weird sensation I’m feeling.

“I thought I saw a mosquito on your arm.”

“What did you just call me?” I’m wide-eyed, ready to smack him down. And I’m not even a double-D cup. I’m a D cup. Okay, there’s not much difference, but it’s so not the point.

“And you don’t think that’s, uh, a tad inappropriate?”

“So, you’re Double D. Dillon Dawson.”

“No problem,” West says and then lets out a dramatic sigh. “I mean, I’d like to be a couple with her. We’d make a great match. We’re both incredibly good-looking, and I’m totally into her. I think she’s gorgeous. But she doesn’t find me attractive. She’s friend-zoned me.” He lets out another dramatic sigh.

“What?” That loud exclamation comes from the woman on the seat next to us. She stares directly at me. “Are you nuts?”

“Yeah … and please don’t tell her this because it’s a surprise.” I lean a little closer, lowering my voice. “But I brought her here to ask her to marry me. I plan on proposing tonight.”

She gasps, and her eyes widen. She blinks a few times. Her throat works on a swallow. And my heart is fucking racing. I turn in my seat toward her and pull the ring box from my pocket. Then, I slide off my chair, getting to my feet, and crack open the box.

“What do you think of the ring? You think she’ll like it? I had it specially designed with her in mind. Red’s her color.”

The ring is a red trillion cut diamond, surrounded by small diamonds, set in a platinum band. It cost a fucking fortune, but she is beyond worth it.

Dillon swallows and moistens her lips with her tongue, her eyes fixed on the ring in my hand. “I, uh … I think she’ll love it.”

Her eyes lift to mine. I see love and happiness swimming in them, and my heart thumps. “She’s a lucky girl.”

“So … do you think there might be a chance that she’ll say yes to marrying me?”

“Oh, I think there’s a one thousand percent chance that she’ll say yes.”

A smile and then, “Yes. A thousand percent yes.”
