I may be ruined on thrillers and romance thanks to authors like Freida McFadden and SJM. My standards are high now.
Zach Bridger is a retired mvp football player who was left with life changing decisions when his ex wife Rebecca, falls into a coma and her will shows he’s listed as the guy in charge. Her religious father won’t allow Zach to pull the plug so she sits comatose in the hospital for 4 years.
Rebecca’s abuser Eban Clarke is released early from prison and this causes state prosecutor Kate Lennon to seek out Bridger in hopes of convincing him to pull the plug on Rebecca so she can try Clarke for murder.
Things get dicey. Eban is a sociopath and sets out to tie off any loose ends so he can remain free and Zach and Kate end up falling in love. No mystery on who the killer is. No build up on the romance. It is what it is.
The most surprising event that took place was what Doug Pratt (Rebecca’s father) was hiding all along.
