ENGLISH REVIEW DOWN BELOW Sandra Brown nos trae de nuevo un thriller imposible de soltar, que te mantiene enganchado hasta la última página y que te deja sin aliento. En esta ocasión nos plantea un conflicto a simple vista como bien lo detalla la sinopsis: El detective Duncan tiene que ir a la casa del juez Cato Laird porque su esposa, Elise, mató en defensa a un ladrón que quiso dispararle primero. Hasta ahí todo viene bien, la premisa es sencilla y nos presentan a los personajes a grandes rasgos pero, conforme avanzan las páginas, la trama se va haciendo cada vez más y más compleja. Con giros y revelaciones a cada tramo del libro esta historia está plagada de acción, misterio y ese toque de erotismo que no falta en las novelas de Sandra Brown. Tiene un argumento extenso plagado de personajes donde cada uno tiene una importancia clave. Todas y cada una de las pistas y revelaciones están puestan minuciosamente en el lugar correcto de modo que al final todo termina encajando y a la vez sorprendiendo. Los personajes principales, Duncan y Dee Dee, llevan muy bien el ritmo de la historia. Me gustó como estuvo construída su amistad y el modo que interactuaban entre sí. Elise Laird te mantiene en suspenso durante todo el puto libro porque no sabés si confiar o no en ella hasta la última página: era lo que más me exasperaba y me mantuvo despierto hasta altas horas de la noche. A pesar de ser un libro extenso, no se siente pesado en ningún momento. Los diálogos que mantienen todos los personajes están bien hechos, me parecieron coherentes, inteligentes y, algunas veces, cómicos. La narración de la vida cotidiana de los personajes junto con sus obligaciones hizo que se sintieran más reales. Lo que más me gusta de los thrillers de Sandra, son los motivos por los cuales sus personajes llevan a cabo los delitos. Siempre está en juego la reputación social, el dinero, estafas y encubrimientos con personas muy importantes implicadas en el medio. Ese tipo de thrillers, que no alcanzan a ser catalogados como "legales", son los que me encantan, así que definitivamente seguiré buscando títulos de esta autora. Until now everything comes well, the premise is simple and the characters are introduced but, as the pages progress, the plot becomes more and more complex. With twists and revelations to every part of the book, this story is plagued with action, mystery and that touch of eroticism characteristic of Sandra Brown's novels. It has an extensive plot full of characters where each one has a huge role. Each and every one of the clues and revelations are put in minute detail in the right place so that in the end everything ends up fitting and surprising at the same time. The main characters, Duncan and Dee Dee, carry the rhythm of the story very well. I liked how their friendship was built and the way they interacted with each other. Elise Laird keeps you wondering throughout the whole fucking book because you don't know whether or not to trust her until the last page: it was what most exasperated me. Despite being an extensive book, it does not feel heavy at any time. The dialogues are well done: they were coherent, intelligent and, sometimes, funny. The narration of the daily life of the characters along with their obligations made them feel more real. What I like most about Sandra's thrillers are the reasons why her characters carry out the crimes. It is always at stake social reputation, money, scams and cover-ups with very important people involved. Those types of thrillers, which can not be categorized as "legal", are the ones I love, so I'll definitely keep looking for titles from this author. ----------------------------------------
