Shattered Dreams

When Claire Carter wakes to the sun in her face on a sailboat anchored off the coast of Key Largo after a romantic evening, she's covered in blood and her husband's missing. She turns to her estranged twin sister, a divorce attorney, for help. Crystal sends Jason Roberts, a criminal lawyer who owes her a favor. Though he doesn't really believe anything other than hubby Carl disappearing on his own has taken place, Jason sets out to investigate. Claire is stunned to learn Carl drugged her and faked the entire scene, while trying to take off with all their assets in the process. From the beginning Jason fights his attraction for Claire. He's been dealing with his own messy divorce and cheating spouse and knows that Claire's going through an emotional ringer with Carl, so it's not a good idea to get involved. Still, the two are drawn together as the puzzle unfolds. Then Carl's stabbed body washes ashore weeks later and the investigation takes a strange turn. Seems both sisters had motivation to want the man dead - Claire, because she found out about his cheating, (not to mention what he put her through with the disappearance while attempting to rob her blind) - and the sister, because she swore she'd get even with the man. Carl caused a rift between the two sisters after hitting on Crystal at their wedding and then blaming it on her saying the twin pretended to be Claire. Claire took his side, without realizing all this time she'd been living that lie with Carl. His cheating had started on their wedding day. Things get worse when Jason discovers Claire's lie of omission. Now, he's not sure if the twins worked together and set up Carl's murder, including staging the scene with the blood and seducing him in the process or if Claire is innocent and it's all Crystal's doing.
