sara desai does it again!! i love that all of the books have the same vibes, you can really count on the sense of familiarity with sara desai. 

i loved the characters in this book, zara and jay’s chemistry was written perfectly!

also the epilogue just finished the story off so nicely.

This is one of my favourite romances that I have read. I liked both of the characters and their almost enemies to lovers banter. Their personalities mesh well together and I enjoyed the plot from what I can remember. I believe a lot of romances are very surface level and this one does not escape that but it was still enjoyable.

I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of the grump/sunshine trope. I loved the characters chemistry. I actually liked the characters themselves, including a few of the side characters. 


I thought mentioning his prior service was happening way too often in the beginning of the book, but then they back off it for awhile so it was okay. I didn’t love the third act, it seemed a bit rushed and kindof jumbled, but overall I still really loved the book. 

The spicy scenes were nice and well written as well!

i honestly really enjoyed this book, mostly cause of how much of opposites zara and jay were, like COMPLETELY different. i like how zara had to get over her personal issues due to her parents divorce, and her previous failed relationship in order to get her priorities straight and be able to truly love jay. i also liked jay’s character, and how we went from very controlling and uptight to a little looser and more confident in comforting his own issues like the PTSD from his days in the military. 

the book also touched on untraditional jobs, such as zara’s dad who was an artist and musician. the taboo of the entire field in the desi community was well written, and how this career change broke zara’s parents marriage was interesting as well. 

overall, i really liked both characters their love story. they came together very beautifully and i enjoyed it!!! 4/5

This is such a cute rom-com book! The ending made me so happy for Jay and Zara! This is a happy-ending romance book that I would highly recommend to anyone.

i really enjoyed this book! my second Sara desai book and it did not disappoint. It is quite on par with “the dating plan” although different tropes. im not the biggest fan of the grumpy x sunshine trope but let me tell you I ATE THIS SHIT UP! it was the perfect balance between the two and I really enjoyed it all. 

Now Zara. Her character is so vibrant, so chaotic, so loud that one could easily hate her character. but the more you read about her the more you like her. I myself did not really like her in the beginning but she just got better as the book went on. she kind of reminds me of myself just a little more expressive in a way, which is weird because we’re not much alike. 

Now JAY! I feel like if you’re reading a desi romance and you have a MMC whose name is Jay? They are ready to be the best book boyfriends ever. Jay Dayal? Have my kids. He’s so precious ahhh! I really reallly liked his character, even more than Liam (dating plans MMC) Jay is just swoon worthy. 

Their banter is so funny, and I love their dynamic! The only thing I did not particularly agree with was the last part or “conflict” of the book. There was no real climax or reaction from Jay like one would have expected with what Zara had “done” which brings the question as to why that part of the plot was even written. 

Anyway this book was moreish and I really enjoyed reading it. it was a solid book, and I feel like would be a great introduction to desi romances.

I was so excited for the 3rd book in this series by Sara Desai, but I have to say I’m a little disappointed. The Marriage Game had a great story. The Dating Plan had a great story and some more spice to it. The Singles Table felt spicier than The Dating Plan, but the storyline paled in comparison. 

The beginning of Zara and Jay’s relationship story kind of paralleled the paintball scene in The Hating Game which I thought was funny. How many more books out there have romances budding on a paint ball course? Our favorite quirky aunties are also more distanced from Zara than they were Layla or Daisy so overall, there were less goofy moments than the first two books of the series.
