Crescent City 2 – Wenn ein Stern erstrahlt

Wow. Not ok. Very stressed. Craziest ending to a book I've ever read. How on earth I am going to be able to wait to see what happens next, I have no idea.

However....sometimes SJM can write an okay/good book with an incredible ending, and then we are left thinking the whole book is incredible, when in reality it was only good/okay. Which I would say applies here. Fabulous ending, worth the read to me, but you have to do a lot of work (like 500 pages worth of work) to get there. Similar to book one. 

- The Bat Boys. Looooved these characters. Really lightened things up and provided some much needed comedic relief. 

 Although I wasn't totally sold on some of the scenes, it was a nice relief to finallyyyy get some happy, "together" scenes between Bryce and Hunt. 

- Really great plot twists. Some I saw coming, some I had no idea - such as the ending. You can bet the last 200 pages of any SJM book be incredible and this was no exception. 

- The book honestly could've been like 300 pages shorter. It felt like a wild goose chase at times. Some of the new POVs didn't feel necessary - Tharion's, specifically. I am so uninterested in his storyline and I groaned every time his POV came up. 

- I am over the Danika's secrets storyline.. in this book it made her feel unlikeable and I got secondhand embarrassment for Bryce every time we learned a new secret about her "best friend." It makes me wonder how close they really were in Danika's eyes. 

- She stillll tries to draw out the sexual tension between Bryce and Hunt for like the first third of the book. After waiting the entire first book it wasn't fun anymore, only frustrating.

- A big story-building book. Some of the characters actions didn't make sense and you could tell SJM was using that as a catalyst to get the characters and plot in place for the big twist at the end. There are also a lot of underdeveloped subplots that were introduced and not explored.

Overall, I liked the first book better and it still doesn't touch ACOTAR. However, if you read ACOTAR you simply have to read CC. I am also realizing if you read one SJM series there is no way around the fact that you will have to end up reading them all.
